We really do miss a hooker who does the basics well like Randel. Don’t think we ever replaced him. Efficient distribution, knew when to run and steal the yards, strong in D and a good step out prior to a pass to put players on the front foot. With these new 6 again rules and the pace of the game speeding up I can’t imagine how successful a 9 like Randell could have been.

And there were some on here that used to slate him.

I do though, tend to agree on this. Also had a good kicking game too, which complimented the halves

Funny yet another player to gain legendary status since leaving, I find posts like this hilarious, a bit like the four Yorkshiremen sketch.

What are these made up stats and facts? I bet you would struggle to name one.

In terms of been reactive, of course these opinions are reactive, that's not to say they are knee jerk, they are reactive to 3 years of poor results and poor performances but they are also proactive in terms of thinking about the clubs future and how we can make things better, although some opinions may differ, I`m not sure why anyone on here wouldn`t want the best for the club, some posters see Chester as the problem, some don`t it`s as simple as that.

For me Battye was our best player by the way when he first come in, you can accuse that of been a false fact but it`s just an opinion, he didn`t have much to compete with at the time in terms of performances though and he was a big reason in the upturn in performances IMO. I don`t though think it`s fair to say he hasn`t been up to standard, he has just returned from injury and I think he will regain his previous form, he is that type of player that never really has a bad game imo.

on the subject of made up facts and stats....
3 years?
The start of 2019, before the injury crisis, we had won 9/15 (60%). The last of those wins was 10th May 2019, exactly 2 years ago and, coincidently, the starting point for the cherry-picked stats oft quoted on here.
Prior to lockdown in 2020, we'd won 3/6 (50%) and once it was calming down we won 3 of the last 5 games (60%).
Just to show that if you cherry pick the other way, we looked pretty good, but whichever way you do it - there's not 3 years.

That's like judging a Marathon runner on his first 10 miles, saying we played well here or there for a few weeks, consistency is the word that crops up time and time again with Wakefield Trinity whether it be over the 80 minutes or stringing together back to back performances and at the end of the day, when we go down to the championship at the end of this year, I doubt there will be many of us looking back and saying, well we played well for 4 or 5 week here and picked up some points

Win rate in 2019 - 36%
Win rate in 2020 - 26%
Win rate in 2021 - 0%

Even if you look at a successful season for us like 2018, our win rate is 42% which still isn`t that great but probably about where I would put this team at based on the squad we have.

This is exactly the point I was making.
You made a statement that was factually incorrect. If Coco hadn't pointed it out it would just be assumed to be true for the follow on posts.
When he does correct it we get the "ah but what about....."

Its still not correct.

And for the marathon comment, you might as well say you are judging the marathon on the middle three miles.

I accept you don't want Chester to be coach. I don't accept much of the logic for justifying it and trying to encourage to believe the same (Not aimed just at you)
Personally, if we could get someone better I wouldn't be against it. I'd rather use the money to get a better player at 9 because I still believe Chester's record shows he is capable but just doesn't have the tools for many different reasons. Some of which are down to him.

In terms of stats, if you want to judge Chester on them. We won more than we lost in 2017.
We've only done that 4 times since 1980.

Up to and including 2019 we won 50 and lost 58 in the league and playoffs under Chester.
It has clearly gone wrong in 2020 onwards but there are so many external factors that influence that change, I want to give him chance to put it right when covid issues pass and injuries are resolved.....or new players (not squad players) are able to be brought in to replace the injured players.

I don`t judge Chester in anyway I wouldn`t any other coach, I just don`t think he is good enough Poptart, in fact as I said the other week the fact he obviously has Wakefield at heart and is a Wakefield lad, I have probably given him a lot more excuses and time in my own head before I come to the conclusions I have.

5/6 years is a good amount of time for any coach at a club, even one that is highly successful imo, the fact that we seem to have gone backwards regardless of this long term plan, I think I`m not alone in the fact I would be disappointed if Chester was given an extension at the end of this year....

I don`t get the middle 3 miles reference PT, I am judging on our finishing position?

We are closer in opinion than you think.
There are certainly coaches that I would put above Chester. I've liked how he developed the club and the way we played when he started but its perfectly possible that a better coach might have handled this period better than him. - It just bugs me that people say things like he had help from Kear or lets give it to an assistant coach when Kear's record is a lot worse than Chester and the assistants have no grounding to take on such a difficult job.

I don't disagree with the 5-6 years thing either. Its just I want to manage that move rather than just chuck him out and put someone worse in place.

But 5-6 years isn't the reason for the down turn, nor is Chester's core capabilities as a coach as he's proved he can do it. Injuries, budget and covid have impacted the club and some want to load it all on Chester - and that is where I disagree.

The marathon comment is because its only the end because you are saying its the end. If he stays two more years and is successful, then you are referring to the middle section. That isn't clear yet.
