Bump into many an old wakey fan on my travels and get told the same old answer when I asked if they are still watching the game ,and that is that they gave up watching . You only have to look around on the terraces and you don’t see the regular faces anymore that stood in the same spot for years. I personally used to take a boat load in my mini bus to games home and away and now there is my son, grandson and me ,even the wife who has been going for over 20 years can find other things to do . They nearly all sight poor performances for their lack of interest and cost of watching . The only way to arrest this sad demise it to get a winning team on the park , people don’t want to watch a team of tryer’s losing all the time . Get the product right on the field and people will come back it’s not rocket science it’s that simple . I’ll keep going but lots won’t and aren’t as you can tell by the tickets left . Make any excuses you want about the ground ,social media ,for lack of footfall but get a team that can win more than they lose and people will come .
Chicken and Egg though isn't it? How do we fund a better team that has more chance of winning? By getting fans through the gates How do we get more fans through the gates? By winning more matches
I get that it's a tough sell, but those regular fans that are deciding not to go are only making the situation worse

i don’t think it’s just our team the whole of rugby league is in decline and as been for a few years now. The product gets worse year on year, we don’t produce world class players to create interest at an international level and there are too many one sided games. People have got interest outside of the game and this shows by falling crowds and the level of people playing the game at amateur level falling. Cumbria as a game on its backside, Hull area struggling, Wakefield area struggling this creates not enough good quality players to go round to create an intense, exciting competition
Obviously not with covid, but for a lot of people over the last 5-10 years it comes down to, am I being entertained and getting value for money, compared to the cinema, theatre, a meal out etc. A lot of people just can't afford to do multiple activities can they, so something has to give. I know quite a few who used to stand near us, at least 10-15 who haven't bothered in the last 5 years say, which is a shame 'cause they missed out on 2017&'18, which were 2 of the most enjoyable and entertaining seasons in the 30 odd years I've been watching. I can honestly say though last season and so far this, no matter the ability levels of the players who take to the field, the entertainment value is not very good is it? We are boring to watch, it's predictable and tedious, and eventually people vote with their feet.........I changed jobs 2 years ago, and now have to work flexible hours, so can't always make games depending when they are played, so haven't got a season ticket for the first times in God knows how long.

I’ve said exactly the same on many a thread about the chicken and egg , you are talking to the converted , it’s the apathy of the stay always that are the problem , and as much as we’d like they won’t return until we have a consistent presence in the field. We’ve been a yo-yo club for far too long and set out sights low and this is the culmination I’m afraid . There is no simple answer apart from stringing some rousing performances together with hopefully will temp the stay aways taste buds once again
I cant always make every game either i dont know why the club doesnt do a part season ticket for say 6 games especially this year with games changing start times etc and charge accordingly its not like we are ever going to get to sellout levels for any game on current form even with away fans allowed and its revenue for the club too they could even make them like the old fashioned bus saverstrips we had in my youth

MC has covered this a number of times.
He says it's the ST holders who keep the club going over the winter, when there is no other income, and as such, it is they who should be rewarded, with the reduced prices a membership brings.
What does a ST holder get? Maybe 2 free games?? That would mean a half ST would get you 1 free game.
What would you expect to see from a 6 game ST? A free bag of chips?

Bang on the money Mopsey. I watch Wakefield as I have for many many years I have little interest outside my club or for the NRL the game as you say really is on a downward slide. Friday was a perfect example of how bad the game has become. Too many rule changes confusion with rules and inconsistent decision making. This makes the game confusing and poor to watch
