Re: Chester out part 65 : Sat May 15, 2021 7:20 am
I think last night his body language says it all. He does need to go, I think for his own health and maybe even sanity.

Can't knock the effort and commitment, but make no mistake here, Leeds were awful, and were there for the taking. It was our own mistakes that cost us.

I don't know who, but we need a strict coach, with a stricter regime, with his own conditioners etc, but to be allowed to do things his way. Any players who don't want to pull rank, and be in the trenches, need to be shown the door. As somebody mentioned a few days ago, isn't it the record number of players off contract later this year.

Can honestly say at the moment, I'm very disappointed with our overseas players overall.

Of course it's cherry picking. It's the very definition of cherry picking.
Why have you only selected games since lockdown? (I only make it 22 games since lockdown by the way).
You have selected the run of fixtures which best matches the point you wish to make. Without context.
In that run of games 68% of them were played against just 4 teams (Catalans 5 times, Leeds 4 times and Wigan & Saints 3 times each). Is this a fair or random sample?

The context of Covid, player availability and fixture pile-up were not taken into account. It is implied that the only factor is the standard of coaching.

My stats were absolutely deliberately cherry picked to emphasise how easy it is to make a case to match any argument. I am not deluded, but neither do I have an agenda to denigrate the club.

For me statistics from season's past are gone. We are where we are now. 0/6 (0/7 inxluding tge cup defeat) isn't good however you look at it. The frustrating thing is had we even an ounce of structure, composure or game plan we should be 4/6. Our own inability with the ball means the mistakes and individual errors we have in us really hurt.

Last night a better team than Leeds would've put a cricket score on us. We gave up too much ball, too much territory and a combination of excellent defence and awful attack reduced them to two scores.

Don't be so ridiculous. He's the coach! How could nothing about the loss be because of him! As I put on the other thread, the madness of the backs driving the ball off our own line for 3/4 plays is because of him.

Phil Clark said we have the second best play the ball in the opponents 25 but we then just run out of ideas .

131 I have stated that MC saved the club and provided a level of funding that saw the club develop but things have gone stagnent and not moved on to the next level
. I take it you know the clubs finances to be able to state moneys not available. MC seems to think he's taken the club as far as he can and if that's the case so be it.
Wollo
Its up to the club to look at raising funds. accountants in general tend to look at a figure and work around it or cut the cloth accordinly( survival).

I just can`t get my head around this comment what so ever PT, you are either completely deluded or have zero clue on this what so ever, or maybe didn`t watch the game?

Whilst there were a couple of bad referee calls granted, The game last night for me was a classic chess match of coaching... There was a clear game plan from Leeds to play the basics, every man and his dog could see that. We started playing one man up into to the back of the ruck and they had a man pressing up every time with a man on the inside after the first set, we failed to change that tactic other than a couple runs from Westerman and Tanginoa then went straight back to it, it didn`t work, we got dominated every tackle, they won the ruck and won the field position, switching up every other play and running a couple of different lines may have helped us out a bit, hell maybe even throw some basic shift plays on.

When things got tough, the pressure ramped up and errors started creeping in for both sides, you could see the call sent down from Agar because they went back to basics once again, stopped forcing silly passes, put some depth in there line which they had lacked over the game, played with the first man and sometimes second man off as dummy runner and that`s all they needed to do to gain that advantage back again, other coaches will pick up a couple of swings in that game on the video tape and do exactly the same. Our answer to that should of been talked about all week, how we are resilient, how we adapt during a game, which set plays we go to, which structure we go to well it turns out PT we seemed to have nothing? Our answer was to throw some very silly wild passes, to pass the ball to Lyne to run around like a headless chicken hoping we could find some space - As much as that is players making some silly decisions, were is the structure? Where are the ideas? Where is the resilience? Where is the game plan?

I will give us some credit, I thought our scramble defence was good, but I thought Leeds chose the wrong option time after time on our line throughout.

People can talk about the last call, but we should not have been in that position to let 1 ref call influence the result.

On top of everything this morning I was told Jowitt was not to be offered a new deal for next year which I really hope isn`t true, he does a job wherever he is asked to play, not too sure what the lad does wrong but we would rather persist with picking the wrong option time after time.

I agree, but if you're going to use past season's data to back up an argument then you need to make it as fair and relevant as possible.

We are at the brink of a disastrous season. For me, Chester has 6 more games to show a significant turnaround otherwise he has to go. We still cannot afford to be relegated. The fact that you state that we could have been 4/6 suggests that the problem is perhaps solvable. If we were getting beat by 40 points every week then the problem would be insurmountable.
The clock is ticking for Chester and as each week passes without a win, it gets louder.

Anyway, a nice graph of wins under Chester, which emphasises the current problem.
