Damien Hughes : Fri Jun 18, 2021 5:12 am
Listening to Brett hodgson on about this Damien guy who is a sports physiologist who according to Brett is having a positive impact on the players over at hull and at his time playing at the wires.A lot of people brush this stuff off as hocus Pocus stuff . According to Brett he’s doing a terrific job getting the players mentally prepared for the games by turning the players negative thoughts into positive thoughts and it’s seems to be working over at hull .Is he worth a punt or do we just bat on , or try something out of the box to get the guys more consistent on the field , or do we already use something like this ,I’m not sure.

Obviously watching the team play against HKR and HUDDS and how effortless and confident we look with ball in hand To watching us play like we’ve no confidence in ourselves, it could be worth a go to get more consistency on the field .I’ve said it for ages that the players we’ve got are good enough ,I just don’t think they believe in themselves at times .

It doesn't have to be this guy but a sports psychologist is worth it's weight in gold.
I'd go as far as to say I'd lose a player out of the squad to pay for one.

I was just using him as a example pop tart ,I’m sure there are lots about that are equally as good, but I’m sure it would be advantageous as we do seem to be up and down somewhat with our performances and if it’s a lack of self belief there is no harm in giving this a go as any advantage we can gain will only be a good influence on the team

Yes. Understood what you meant and I agree.
Budgets often restrict this but it's really important.

I had a training course with a SP who worked with Leicester Tigers.
He was small and in no way masculine but showed me how, through psychological training and meetings with him, he turned them into an intimidating force.
It's all about whether you believe and he made them believe.

Could he throw in coaching an attacking line on the house? If so he might have a chance

We did have one called John Kear a few seasons ago.
