Can’t see it happening. Must be bad if the Roosters didn’t want to keep him and now the bottom club in the NRL doesn’t want to either.

He`s a great player, just down on confidence and has found himself trapped in the toxic NRL media storm which as a young lad he can be forgiven for IMO. They dropped him from the Roosters because he failed to win them a premiership, he had a terrible game for the Bulldogs but had zero options, was brought off at Halftime and given a kick in in the media by Barratt.

I think he is the type of player that would be brilliant in SL, he can bring his dad with him too if he fancies it.

Why? You do that you've lost a quota spot for the prop people are screaming for. To accommodate said player Mason or Miller would have to go.

Potentially, we need a 9 too.

In 2017, we had Miller, Williams and Randell.

Could we be looking closer to home for our props.

You may be in the know, with your recent meetings with the lord and master

Not at all, I'm afraid.

I'm simply pointing out the maths.

You bring in an extra quota pivot player then you are immediately shutting down the avenue of signing a top prop unless you let another quota player go. The fans and experts on here have been screaming out for us to sign a world-class prop, you will only find those in the NRL IMHO. The options are Lino or Miller or Tupou will have to go if we are to sign say Flannagan and Andrew Fifita (for example).

Frankly, I don't care so long as the team improves but if I'm honest I wouldn't risk trying to convert Mason into a 9, I'd cut my losses and see if we can transfer him out. Nothing against the lad but that;'s the cold logic of the game.

Flanagan has been treated appallingly in the NRL and it’s no wonder his confidence is low.

He was being heralded as the next superstar of the game after 10 NRL starts then written off less than 2 seasons later.

The fact of the matter is he was never destined to be an immortal but neither is he finished.

He is an outstanding prospect. His passing and kicking game are fantastic and he has a very good brain.

I’ve no doubt he will come to SL for 2/3 years and go back to the NRL a much better grounded player.

Fitting him in would obviously be a challenge and using those valuable quota spots can define a season.

The feedback coming from Australia seems to be players generally don’t want to come to SL at the moment and are taking reduced contracts to stay in the NRL. Very few clubs are recruiting big names at the moment. Most are going for 30-50 game players who are on the edges of being first team regulars in the NRL.

Given Gaskill is already signed up I believe Trinity would have to lose one of their current halves. I also think other clubs will offer a fairly substantial contract to secure his services which Trinity probably won’t be in a position to match.

I’d personally like to see him at Trinity but I just don’t see it happening due to the fact we have other areas to improve as a priority over halfback.

Wasn't Miller linked with Hull KR recently?

Maybe our resident Hull KR fan on here can put us in the picture

Not sure about other club offering substantial contracts, I think the majority of the big guns have spent up for next season.

Wigan I believe have significant cap space left, if they spend it though due to cutting their cloth accordingly next year I’m not so sure.

Is that the elastic cap space?

What about quota spots, haven't Wigan just signed 2 overseas players?

Wigan currently have only 6 quota players.

Hastings is leaving, Clark expected to leave and Leuleui expected to retire so with the 3 players coming in they still have 1 spot available.

In relation to the cap they didn’t replace Burgess this year who was a marquee signing and Hastings/Leuleui are big earners. Others will be leaving too and no doubt there will be contract upgrades for the younger players and in some cases like Willie Isa reduced terms negotiated if he is to stay.

The chairman has stated a few times that due to the financial uncertainty within the game they will cut their cloth accordingly next year and probably not spend full cap.

In relation to Clark despite only getting games recently he has been arguably Wigan’s second best Prop behind Harvard and he could well do a job for Trinity next year.

I think Andrew Fiifita will be our quota prop next season
