When you look at Chester at any game he looks defeated before the match even kicks off. It is no wonder the team is short of confidence and lacking motivation.

I would say that’s because he is defeated before he starts

The guy is abject at best

I've never said he does deserve one. I point that out every time you and Scar make that point.
All I'm saying is if we change it has to be better than what we have and I don't agree with Scarlets assessment that just because Chester doesn't look as happy as Scarlett wants him to be he isn't a good coach.

I agree with the points made that our structure isn't as good as it has been and we are no always performing to our full potential but i don't put that 100% on Chester's shoulders like some of you do. Injuries, Covid and individual player ability has affected that a great deal.

When people are down on Chester they point to Watson or Powell as shining lights yet they are suffering exactly the same way when they have injuries or covid issues.

Its just a difficult time for the club, and rugby league in general and I think just getting through this period the best we can is what is needed and then regroup. More upheaval will not benefit the team unless its to bring in someone who can manage the team in this current climate better than Chester.

I assure you I'll say goodbye to Mr Chester if we are bringing a JD or Craig Bellamy or even Nathan Brown but not for an assistant coach with no experience or an equally failing SL coach who will just recruit the same old fringe players or a successful SL coach who was only successful because he had money......which they won't have with us.

Re: CC and recruitment : Thu Aug 05, 2021 11:43 pm
I am sorry PT but he has had longer than any coach would expect to turn things around. We are doing the same things in attack that we have been guilty of for two seasons. The buck stops with him despite his best efforts to blame everything and anyone else for the team’s performances.
We need a complete shake up which at most clubs starts with the coach. How do you know who will apply and let’s face it the bar is set low to be better than Chester. With his contract expiring why are no other clubs appearing to want to employ him.
He had his time and like all coaches they reach their sell by date, his was at the end of last season and I am being generous. The club have the final decision but I hope they consider the lost revenue that I believe will result in us extending his contract further. A further consideration is that it look likes four teams are heading for relegation at the end of next season and based on our current results and league position do you actually believe next season things will be different.
I am not a ray of sunshine because I have witnessed at least two seasons of in the majority of games dull, clueless rugby. I actually fear for our SL survival if we continue the way we are but the club appears to not be aware of this if this think giving Chester a two or three year extension is the answer.
I am going to leave it at that and allow his coaching to speak for his ability because we all know he will or probably has already agreed the extension.

LOL what a surprise, bet you can't wait. Do change the Flippin record.

You have no idea how the team will shape up for next year any more than I do.

I find it hard to believe that you are the long-time fan that you claim to be. Anyone who's supported this club, certainly in SL, will know that a small feast always follows famine.

2000-2003 pretty terrible - 2004 Brilliant

2005 poor, 2006 awfull- 2007 8th -2008 8th + CC semi final 2009 5th!

2010 to 2011 poor - 2012 8th

2013 to 2015 poor - 2016 8th, 2017 5th, 2018 a very unlucky 9th

2019 to present poor

Do you not see a pattern?

All teams go in cycles, it's just that ours are more modest and more frequent due, certainly in the past, to a financial inability to keep key players. Despite what people choose to think, all the coaching in the world will not compensate for our inability to keep and or recruit the highest calibre players, it just won't. Once in a blue moon, a Trinity type club will have an epic season but without the cash to build it simply can't last and that is our story. Getting rid of CC won't change that, not even in the short term, that's just a fans fantasy. CC can easily be saved by the addition of a few key players, they don't even need to be well known, just right for the club and that's up to him and I support him in that aim.

You can name as many potential and above all realistic coaching/player as signings you want but the results will be the same. More to the point name the ones who would actually come, that's a far shorter list.

If you all want to see the root cause of our problems go down to BV right now as it's a grey day and just stand in the car park and really look at the place. Then ask yourself how do you sell this to players and coaches and above all fans and sponsors. Be honest, don't pretend it just takes a bit of effort and creativity because that's b*llocks!

Then drive to Headingley or Saints and take a look. We are not talking about different worlds here but different universes. Yes, Cas are currently a bit of an anomaly but I suspect SL only has room for one of those. The fact that we compete at all on any level is staggering and if we do get relegated it's probably long overdue. Yet somehow I don't think we will. Sadly I don't see us at the top of SL any time soon.
