I know that its been brought up a countless number of times , but when are we ever going to vary our kick offs. 6 times we kicked and 6 times the exact same kick. I thought at least a couple of kicks could have gone skidding on the surface to the opposition, but no every one straight to the scrum half . We kick to exactly the same place as the opposition are set up for. I have only seen Rocky vary the kicks in the last couple of seasons. Tonight the conditions could have easily had an effect on the bounce of the ball.

I agree last night was a perfect time with conditions to put some kick offs along the floor

I've nothing against varying kick offs, Dewsbury managed it against us in a pre season game with varying degrees of success.
However, the deep kick is the percentage play and most sides use this, unless the game is close with very little time on the clock.

Short kick offs are ok but they are a high risk play and whilst you can get lucky, you also risk gifting the opposition the ball on their 40.

Personally, I was more disappointed with our last play kicks, which, generally gifted the back to Cas.
If ever there was a time for putting the ball along the ground, it was last night, in very damp greasy conditions.

I'm sure a few on here remember Martin Pearson when he played for us. Many a time he would kick off hard and low towards the touchline around 20-30 metres into the opposition half and it was surprising how often he found touch

The problem on Saturday was our "deep kicks" were only getting to Cas's 20m, on the shortest pitch in the league we were giving them a 20m head-start in those sets, whereas we were collecting the ball in-goal from their kick offs

We have a couple of priority issues to sort

We need a hooker that can control our game

We need two new props (there is far too much pressure on Dave and tangi, they’ll do a lot better if there are other props sharing the load more

We need some one that can put a proper attacking last play kick in

I love Jacob
Think he’s a class stand off but his kicking is awful

Get all that sorted and we’ll be rocking
