It's still an 8 hour bus ride from keighley, which means if the KO is 3pm, those part time players will be getting up for work Monday morning not that long after getting home

The owner has stated the team will be made up of Cornish players. I assume any northern players would have to move their and find a job. You know like the Aussies have been doing for thirty years. I assume the owners have a few slots open for such players and jobs lined up.

I seriously doubt they expect northern based players to travel down there 3-4 times a week do you?

I thought it was pretty obvious I was reffering to visiting away teams, obviously I need to work on my communication skill

That’s fair enough a misunderstanding on my part.

However one trip a year is hardly going to break anyone, I’m sure young fit men can take that much. I’m not being sarcastic by the way I just don’t see the issue. In fact if there is an issue it’s in reverse, it’s the the Cornwall lads who will be doing all the hard work travel wise if you think about it logically.

I would assume that in the blessed county of Cornwall work is seasonal for many so there may be ways around it.

Put it this way I’d rather one trip a year down there than numerous trips a year to many of the North less pretty areas :thumb:

Personally, I can’t remember the last time an announcement was made that a new Rugby Union club was formed but that maybe because I have a blackout filter to their game.
A new Rugby League club has just been formed in this country, in a news region, not in Canada, but the sad facts are that the main topics of discussion are what time players have to get up, how much it will cost to get there, etc, and that it will fail in no time at all.
Perhaps it will, but some great players have evolved from London and still are and that’s another area many want to see the back of simply because it isn’t in the north.
There is always another option, give them a chance and hope it’s a great success.
Does anyone on here actually want it to succeed and spread the game which at the end of the day what we all support?

But it's not a new team is it, 3 tyears ago they were Hemmel, now they have taken over Cornwall RLFC so 3 clubs have become one so it's definitely not expansion.
There's a reason that you may not have heard of many RU clubs starting up and it's the same reason as you won't have heard many of them folding. We've had this conversation together a few times and the RU have minimum standards for starting up a new club even at community level, you can't start up and just run a RU club out of a pub and play on a council field, they have a sustainable model and the sooner the RFL realize this is the way forward then the sooner RL can truely compete with RU for players and participants :thumb:

It's not great for visiting sides and may prove difficult when they play thier away fixtures.
As for the owner suggesting that they will have a side made up with locals, I think we may have heard something similar about another expansion club.

I know, that's my point, the RFU don't let team just start up out of the blue, they have to build up from a sustainable base, that's also the reason why clubs aren't constantly going in to admin or moving just for the sake of it

Their premiership clubs were allegedly £32 million in debt last year, allegedly and hopefully! In all my involvement, I’ve never heard anyone say they wanted to start a rugby union club, it’s a different gravy. RL is like football where teams spring up at amateur level all over. I agree, our game has always had a shortage of joined up thinking at all levels. Grass root work keeps the game alive and we are due some success as a game. I am a glass half full person, must be to give nearly 40 years volunteer time. I want Cornwall and Midland to succeed. Simple. Many dullards on here could give a toss as character default is negative to start with, I know yours isn’t.
