I was talking to someone I know and respect this morning who is very experienced in coaching at all levels. He said that in his opinion Wakefield U19's had some real talent in it, more than he's seen at Trinity in 30 years. He reckoned at least five or six could make the step up now for a limited number of games, though clearly into a winning team would be better.

The guy is closely connected with Leeds and has no big connection to Trinity.

Didn't specify anyone in particular but said there was a good blend of skill, speed and toughness.

Of course we hear things like this a lot and there were no promises but I thought it was interesting coming from someone with no bias.

Nah tbf Leeds tend to leave us alone, Hudds and to a lesser degree Cas are the predators.

Leeds still have the pick of the bunch but with Bradford and Wigan no longer harvesting our talent pool and Cas neglecting its Academy (that’s from there own fans) we have picked up a few players we may not have in the past.

Also credit where it’s due Applegarth and his team clearly have an eye for talent.

I only attended one Academy game last season but I’ve watched those available on Trinity TV and other outlets a few times now and I have to be honest I’m impressed. It’s not so much the individuals it’s the organisation. All the players look like they understand the game, something that cannot always be said about age limit RL. Although they are well drilled that’s not what I’m talking about, they look capable as individuals and as they mature physically that maturity and discipline will pay off.

I suppose the biggest compliment I can pay them is that they look a bit like Aussie youngsters. By that I mean at that age British youngsters often look better than their Aussie counterparts but they are still the ones who look capable of kicking on whilst our youngsters fade away.

predators?? you do spout some guff. - its a long time since we've had a player from your academy- unless you are still bitter about Aaron murphy or Dale Ferguson from a decade ago! - how's young Kobe doing by the way?
go on tell me all the players Hudds have predated from wakeys academy in the last 10 years and when.
ps yes your U19s look solid. A couple of them from Huddersfield so no doubt when they sign for their hometown club you'll have a moan.

You're a predator club that splashes the cash, truth hurt? It's hardly an insult, I'd like it if we could do it but we can't.

The truth is if we folded tomorrow the first club picking over our bones would be your lot, admit it.

They are already on their way out.

A new set-up is being put in place, where Giants 20% share is bought out.

They'll be out of there before you know it.
