Freindlies : Thu Jan 20, 2022 12:06 pm
Home friendlies.I notice that we are not playing single home friendly this season. I'm guessing it's a mixture of not knowing where we were with the ground and the general unsuitability of BV for these events?
All the same, I hope that when the re-development is done and the pitch is sorted we will start doing them. I think these events could be quite profitable In the future as we would only need to open the East stand and perhaps the flats.
One thing that I honestly think would work is a pre-season cup played between Ourselves, Cas and Fev, the Five Towns Cup. The winner is to be decided on victories or points for and against if needed. That's two home and two away friendlies, more than enough and highly competitive.
Maybe a proviso that the two SL teams of 17 must-have say a minimum of 5 players with no SL experience or less than 3 games. One, to blood young players, two allowing coaches to rest key players, three levelling up the playing field for Fev.
Just an idea, might be impractical but I reckon you'd get some interest and some decent crowds and you'd also have a team that had played some very competitive pre-season games. I also reckon you might get a half decent sponsor to boot.
The Leeds Boxing day game is a separate game.
