If this is true I’d be worried. I thought we were concerned about the lack of clarity on some details so how does this give clarity?
“The answer we received on the issue of promotion and relegation was a comprehensive one and it is clear that the chances of that happening (the Championship Grand Final winners being denied promotion) are very remote.” Gary Hetherington
“Under the IMG proposals even though you might win the Million Pound Game it doesn’t mean you will be promoted. If the bottom club in Super League have only half a percent more in the grading system than the Championship Champions for having an LED Screen or a larger catchment area means that Super League loser stays up and meaning the Championship winner stays exactly where they were having achieved nothing and won nothing more than a medal this will drive away ambition from clubs and mean there is no investment to get better.” Keighley Cougars
And this is the problem with the IMG proposals. Hetherington may have been assured but how does that square with the Keighley boss’s assertion (which is also how I interpret the IMG system will work)? What does the chances are “ very remote” mean? I suspect the chance for London or Toulouse might be very different to the chance for, say Batley or Swinton or even Trinity. It’s precisely the lack of clarity about the process that’s worrying.
