Re: Shopping list for 2025 : Wed Apr 17, 2024 3:33 pm
I really dont see any point bringing in short term signings or loans for this season.Costs extra money and offers no real value.
The fans can see now what the club are trying to do and realise it all revolves around investment money coming into the club.
A simple statement from Pearson to the fans to confirm that the club are putting all their efforts into signings for next season including hopefully some real quality would suffice.
It would also offer a great opportunity for some of our younger players to get a longer run of games than they would normally have expected.
Sao and Brown are available again next week and we have Walker,Trueman,Mitch,Fash and Ashworth to come back in.
We are likely to be on the end of some drubbings particiularly on Friday at Saints but keep the communication with fans and they will understand.
Good to see Balmforth back in the squad. He should play on Friday as we need a bit more size and pace.Seemed obvious Tinkering Tony either didnt like him or rate him.
Maybe give Hodgson his debut at nine off the bench and play Balmforth at 13

But didn't he give a statement on Friday night during his interview? They want to bring a half back and second rower in now with possibly a centre and a hooker. But beyond that the focus is on the long term including a top 7 for next season. I know that isn't in line with what you want (personally I would prefer focus on long term too) but in Pearson's defence, he has been clear on recruitment strategy.

Just been over to the Bulldogs forum and they seemingly can’t wait for Perham to leave! Someone said they’d drive him to the airport.
Take with a pinch of salt though, we know what that Aussie’s are like.

Playing fullback in a poor NRL side to centre in a SL side is a much much easier gig. NRL is all set for set and completion as well. Think SL probably/hopefully suits him better

Just been reading it myself. Some of them don't seem to keen on him at all but aren't saying what it is they dislike about him whilst others are wishing him well. Best comment is probably this:

I genuinely hope he kills it over there. He obviously isn't the standard we are after and it's good to get him off the books but he definitely gave his best.

So if all we're looking at is a player that they don't feel is up to NRL standards, then I don't think we need to worry too much. Plenty of players come over here and shine that struggle over there.

There are no links currently, but it makes sense for both Hull FC and Drinkwater.

Drinkwater is O.O.C at the end of this season and needs games to put himslef in the shop window and earn a potential contract at another club for next season.

Hull FC need a halfback now and if he`s available on loan, he fills a gap on a temporary basis until the position can be filled on a permanent basis by a new signing from the NRL.

Drinkwater has been unavailable due to an injury but it now looks that Burgess will select Hayes at half instead of him.
