I can't believe there's people on Twitter who think any other coaching options will now not be interested because they weren't Hull's first choice.
This isn't picking your side for a kick about in the playground, it's a head coach job at a top flight rugby team. We could get down to our 4th choice and somebody would still snap our hands off for the job.

I couldn't hear the robin sing if not for you.

If Rowley wanted the job he would have taken it and so would Ian Watson when he turned you down.

Incredible naivety from Myler to make it so public that Rowley was number one choice without having any idea if he would accept.

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Having just read Shaws bit on Twitter it seems a strange paragraph. Surely Rowley would have told Hull FC he was declining the offer and therefore no need to Hull & Salford to discuss. To say talks broke down as Salford learnt Rowley was staying making it easier to reject Hull seems an odd turn of events.

But what do we know

I agree. Unless we went to Salford first rather than Rowley so have had no actual contact with him?

To be fair, we don't actually know that it's Myler that has made it public. I've said on a previous post that if it is, he's hopefully learnt a harsh lesson. But we don't know who made this so public.

Wasn't it carney on sky who said he'd heard it was Rowley who was Hulls prime candidate.

No one knows how this became public nor exactly why it didn’t happen. but to say he lacks ambition is nonsense. Anyone coming to Hull has loads to consider - family, location, length of tenure, stress, finances available, previous coaches experience, current club, wages …. the list is lengthy. I’m sorry we didn’t get him but it’s an opportunity for someone else. We have yet to see how Grix fares

2016 The Year of the Airlie Bird -on sale NOW, price £15, BUY THE BOOK RE-LIVE THE DREAM!

Well that's certainly disappointing but as I have said a couple of times on here it was hard to believe how anyone of his status and current 'comfortable' position would want to come to our place particularly if they consulted players like Sneydy and read books like Gareth Ellis's or indeed watched us for half a game . Relocation is trotted out in these situations but it wasn't the reason Sneyd left or that Ian Watson didn't come of others I am less sure, but those I'm pretty sure about.

However he was exactly what we needed to give us half a chance of rising again as a Club and I guess we were spoilt by the media etc who announced he was our top target which of course there was little doubt he was, but that didn't help with the bite back there now is from the FC Faithful who were led to believe by media sources initially in Lancashire and 'leaked' to Sky presenters that it was a done deal. People are disappointed but I was told today that even potential loan signings who can't get in other teams, are wary of us.

We all know how far we have fallen but how he at least gave us half a chance of reviving our fortunes, so its a real bummer, but we have to get on with it I guess, however we need to accept as well that as far as the rest of the game is concerned the consistent reduction in quality of our recruitment and failure to replace like for like, the 'culture there seems to be at the club that has seen so many coaches come and go, the body language of some of our players during games and indeed perhaps even the demands of the greatest and most passionate fanbase in the game makes us, to outsiders looking in, damaged goods.

Those who have led us to this position and fiddled whilst Rome burned must take a lot of the blame for where we now find ourselves.

Where do we go now? Well it's hard to know, as I'm sure other targets will have a distinct feeling of being second best. That's not a ridiculous comment, as some say, but a fact of human nature. As managers in business you always keep your choice close to your chest until the person concerned accepts the job but in the goldfish bowl that is Rugby in Hull and a parochial greater game, that is impossible. So on we go but it's going to take a lot more than a few loan signings that no one else wants to put this mess right. So as Mr Myler searches for a pair of underpants to wear over his trousers, a win on Sunday would help enormously!!!!

So we move on and as always It's a good job we love em!!!!

Interesting and insightful views as always Wilf. I think we've potentially been getting too drawn into the future prospects for the club with investment on the cards and forgetting about the present and our immediate past. There may be brighter days ahead for us but we maybe have to temper expectations on what we can do right now both in terms of coaching and playing targets. The next coach and the next set of signings may have to be people that can steady the ship and give us a platform to build on rather than ones who can make us challenge again. Such is the state of how far we have fallen.

Fantastic post.

Times have being hard but you only have to look on social media and the constant booing at games to see the toxicity in the stands. It will take one hell of a upturn in results and attitude before we are taken seriousley. You need a statement player to come in and make players believe, at the moment its all just words.

In 2013 we had Ellis come in and that started the upturn in recruitment, followed by a cup win in 2016 we became an attractive proposition for people. Right now any player whose not playing is our only option and that is why Rowley was vital because he can turn them into a solid team.

When you look at Hull now, you see a club getting battered every week and a fanbase that is really toxic. We are the butt of every joke in the league right now. I alluded to it earlier we will struggle to attract the top players and no amount of money will change that.

Its hard to see where we will go from here.
