Hard to say what to do in the backs until Custs timescale is known but obviously someone has to come in for Cartwright. Either Balmforth or Hutchinson. Hopefully Aydin is back as I thought Ashworth and Watts were poor off the bench, be tempted to give Eseh a go regardless.
I thought the same about Watts and ashworth although most seemed to disagree. If we go with those 4 I'd be tempted to start one of them and start with Knight on the bench although personally I wouldn't play Watts as he'll probably get sent off against his former club We lost all go forward when the starters went off, massive upturn when they came back on. Seem to remember Watts missing tackles and that daft ball steal. Ashworth put in a needless late hit too. Can also see Watts been too up for it against Cas. To be fair losing Cust and Cartwright didn’t help us. Considering Watts hadn’t played a SL game until Friday night he did a job. When you take both Ese ese & Knight off we are naturally going to lose a little go forward. Think we are also missing the work rate of Aydin. The good thing is we have a coach in Cartwright were anything that is not good enough is not lost on him and will be worked on as we have seen since game 1. Cas is another test on our journey in that we now face a team that was ranked as a struggler like ourselves at the season start, but we have put some performances together and surprised a fair few. We’ve not gone in as favourites to any game as yet but against Cas we will be seen as favourites. We’ve managed to get a result at Wakey after the emotions of beating Wigan in the CC, now the test is not taking Cas lightly and doing the job there. How many times have we seen games we should have won then put in a shocking performance. Hopefully complacency will not be an issue at all. its also the fact that even with the most hardened professional the thought of what's coming the following will perhaps weigh heavy on their minds.

Ad news on cartwright. Good player but can't stay fit
This is my concern with him too, he just can't seem to string a run of games together. It doesn't help us this year, but hopefully we can manage him better next year with Batchelor, Bailey and Bell all coming in Hamstrings are just a feature of fast sports -soccer rugby athletics. If it’s the same hammy then longer out and longer rehab. They do do surgery but I think his is low grade, not sure. Not the time to write him off. He is our best second rower at the moment. As someone said love to get Bailey early but not sure if that’s possible- I assume but don’t know his current contract or if he has a job away from rugby to sort out too We had a disussion a few days ago about players wearing coverings or some kind of thermal pants to cover their hamstrings. Notice Tom johnstone the Wakefield wing was wearing them last week. I think all players who are susceptible to Hamstring injuries especially in the winter months should wear them Hi We did have that discussion and I get your point of view but there are reasons why they don’t all wear hamstring or calf supports. I’m going to try to dig out the research before the year is out may also look for the headgear thing as well. Sometimes things are counterintuitive hence we have to trust medical/strength & fitness staff. Perhaps we should all be less critical of such things without full knowledge. Not saying ur criticising as I get ur

I was hoping the injury situation would I prove this year with better fitness and conditioning but seemingly not
This is because you will always get a level of injuries in rl inspire of the best conditioning. Multi factorial I think- age, fatigue, fitness, hormonal - men too, prev injury, rehab. Etc etc. All clubs have injuries. strength in depth is what coaches aspire to but there’s salary cap issues. See HDM article re Rovers lack of academy prospects. It suggests their success may be short term. Hardakers situation if a muscle strain maybe similar to Jed Cartwrights. But we don’t know the nature of problem

| Headgear one is obvious. Brain injury comes from the brain hitting the inside of the skull so no amount of headgear is going to stop it and heavy headgear as per the nfl could well make it worse given it increases the weight of the head and therefore momentum.
Headgear can reduce cuts to the head and face though
