1200 calories is likely to be over 100% less then you recommended daily amount. If you deprive your body of the intake it needs to such levels it will began storing fat and preserving it thinking it wont be getting much in the future. It's a simple survival feature that thwarts most people who attempt this diet.

If you like meat, and as another poster has pointed out, go for a higher protein diet and restrcit carbs. It's effective and you feel less hungry due to the ffods you eat. If you can chuck exercise in then you'll raise your mertabolism and burn weight more efficeintly.

But like anything else, diets are horses for courses, that's why there's so many out there. We all thrive under different regimes. I do think, though, that there is a near consensus that "crash" dieting seldom works.

Brilliant advice, plus if your on Twitter this guy is definately worth a follow for diet & training tips.

Digby is spot on - keep a food diary every day and aim to eat around 500 cals less than you normally would every day. any more than this and the body will store fat. keep active and any calories burned this way will be a bonus. the trick is to achieve this every day or at least 6 out of 7 days. allow yourself treats 1 day a week but don't overdo it. good luck

don't just jog, get a few sprints in there and search M100 on youtube if you really want some intensity

Apart from the really bad stuff like chips, crisps, chocolate etc just eat what you usually eat but don't fill your plate so much.

Stick to your 5/6 small meals a day, your body won't store fat if you have a regular eating pattern. Start the day with high fiber/carbs to give yourself some energy for the day, for the rest of the day, stay off the carbs and eat foods high in protein.

As for exercise you need to be burning off 500 calories a day. There is calculators telling you how many calories your burning doing day to day tasks like walking, running etc. HIIT exercise is a great way to lose weight.

Need to shed 13kg in 8 weeks for my UK trip

Breakfast : small banana
poached egg on bed of dry fried spinach

Mid morning : apple

Lunch : Massive bowl of Pumpkin/capsicum/chilli/carrot homemade Soup
Small slice of wholemeal bread to dip in

Afternoon : grapes and 2 kiwis and small handful cashew nuts

Dinner : BBQ (27c here today) , Big Salad + low fat Feta , Olive oil dressing , 2 Kangaroo sausages

Supper : Low fat yoghurt 100g

1200 calories

Any tips for tomorrow ?

Reading down Digby seems to know his stuff. If you're a big geezer which 13kg in 8 weeks suggests I'd say 1200 a day is to low, and even if it results in weight loss it'll be water and muscle more than stored body fat. Which will make your weight gain the other side of the diet more dramatic. Fibre is massive on a diet. The more your metabolism has to work to break down what you eat the more fat will be burned. Coffee, chilli and spice can speed metabolism as well, lots of water for flushing and can help make you feel fuller in short periods. Chew sugar free gum between meals to. More meat I'd suggest, and more veg. These will make you feel fuller and take more effort to digest. Sounds extreme but 13kg in 2months is, take it easy on fruit! Lots of hidden sugars, use sparingly and for purpose of fibre again aim for ones with skins, e.g. apples and kiwi. I'd treat myself more at breakfast as well. Starting your metabolism in a morning is like starting a fire. You need a decent amount of firewood(food) to get it started, once started you just keep it stoked with the odd piece of wood/food! Stay strong, hard work the dieting lark
