Fascinating to see what sort of response your team gives here - this game really could be anything, and it feels absolutely pivotal to your future direction.

From my perspective it is tempting to draw comparisons with our 6-84 reverse against Wigan in 2013. However, our form around that result wasn’t atypical. Also, Hudgell indicated he was considering his position whereas Pearson looks to be responding with further immediate spending, so the parallels don’t run very deep.

Interesting times.
Our own 80 point defeat was offset a bit as we’d won the derby on the Friday and rested players for the game so we’d already given up the game Hull played a team that 5 days earlier had played a cup final with themselves having a 2 week break saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if they turned Cas over

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

You don't think that, for example, another very big defeat could be enough to see Radford's position come into greater doubt? Or that a win could be enough to see him safe to season's end?

Radford will remain as coach if we lose all our remaining games 100-0. There was far greater pressure for him to resign a few years ago, before he'd won back to back trophies. AP has form for mixing it up and delivering silverware with Radford at the helm. He's promised change before and kept his word, so my expectation is that he'll do the same again. If he starts talking about a 5 year plan, then failing and just starting a new 5 year plan each season that leaves us in the drop zone year after year, I'll start to worry about his credibility as it would be shot.

But it is surely possible for a person's mind to change when circumstances do, without them losing credibility. Indeed, Pearson's plans were changed by the performance on Thursday. If your losing streak runs to the end of the season (11 games and 3 months) and you get any more performances like Thursday's... well, we'll probably never know but I think we'd be more likely to see Pearson react like he did at the end of Gentle's reign than how he did at the start of Radford's.

There seems little point in using logic in a discussion with Mrs Barista. Her 26,000+ posts demonstrate that the lady is not for turning.

She did start her latest post with “Radford will remain as coach if we lose all our remaining games 100-0”. Should that unlikely scenario happen Pearson would be beside himself and almost certainly take action. Over emphasis does tend to devalue the point being made.

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Some people within the club [Castleford] have come out with comments saying we're beatable and it's a great game for them and they're very confident.
Many of the comments I've heard have been bordering on disrespectful.
They can be as confident as they want, but they're going to get a tough game this weekend and we'll be trying our best to make sure they don't get that win.
We've played in some big games over these last few years and they've not played in as many, if any, so to be that confident is very risky for them.
They come here with confidence because they've scored a lot of points and beaten us at home, but I wouldn't be overconfident if I was them."

Incidentally Wane's mob got stuffed 16 - 4

I know Steve well and trust me even at his age he wont need any help should one of the Hull fans fancy a pop at him

Or are you gonna have a go if he hasn't got a steward watching his back?

May'be Scott Taylor might have a go too after Steve's derogatory comments about him being selected for England's trip to Denver rather than his son

Looking forward to the game as always over at your place, you can't beat a couple of pints and a laugh prior to kick off time

Hopefully you're right but he's also told us in the past that we wouldn't be suffering humiliating defeats any more and we are.

I don't think radford should be at risk at this stage but we need to see a good start to next season and a massive improvement in our away form and form against the top teams or he does need to be looking over his shoulder but I think he would walk before he got the bullet anyway
