Must admit, as an outsider looking in, your main problem seems to be your coach.....You have a similar situation to what we had with Paul Cullen....Decent squad, with quite an outlay on it, yet making do with a sub-standard coach....Despite all your protests claiming different, our fortunes changing for the better only happened when we brought in a top class coach, and not when Mr Moran began chucking his cash about....He'd been doing that for a while with pretty ropey results.
Not many would argue with your point re the coaching at Hull.
I mentioned our superior history but I guess you missed it.
They finshed above us in 2008, 2009 and knocked us out of the playoffs in 2010.
Since Rovers came into SL they have a superior win loss record in derbys to us, we won twice in the league this year thanks to a debatably disallowed try and a miracle tackle... they humiliated us when it really counted.
Justin Morgan has reached the playoffs twice and won one game, Rich Agar has reached them one in the same amount of time and lost it.
All of this is made more remarkable considering how much of a head start we had in super league over them.
Justin Morgan has a national league promotion to his name and is in demand from the media for his insight and opinions, Rich Agar has won nothing to my knowledge and can barely string a sentence together.
Need I go on?
Sad fact is you're spot on, your problem is that a lot of our supposed 'knowledgable' fans either can't or don't want to acknowledge it!
Seems like the easy way out to me talking like that, I'm 100% black n white I'm simply looking from the point of view of an impartial aussie and stating facts.... resorting to saying i support the other team suggests you cant really contradict what i've said?
Why would you think we won by a debatable disallowed try?
I for one wish him well... One thing is for sure despite what a lot on here said he was not sacked or under any sort of investigation...Good luck Mr Rule!

It was a while back now but I remember Rovers scoring a try that was disallowed from a slight knock-on from the base of the scrum... it was rightly ruled out but if there hadn't been a video ref it would have been given and even with the video it was debatable

You speak as if salary and the coach is the only factor that determines a player's choice. Players aren't stupid. Look at those signing up for 5 years with Leeds under McLennan, now they've got McDermott who's achieved less than Agar. Not sure what the massive ambition you claim Rovers demonstrate is? Catalans have made the CC final, for example and been 10 minutes from a GF, would you describe them as massively ambitious. Rovers have done better than FC with more limited resources over the last 4 years, but in the longer term FC averages 13,500 attendance and a far superior off the pitch organisation in terms of the commercial side of things and community programme. This "ambition" that Rovers sold to the RFL of a 14k stadium by the start of the 2010 season has now been scaled back to only 12k, maybe by 2012 and even to get that they've had to use the council to secure funding. The ambition they sold to the fans of "challenging" for honours in 2009 hasn't materialised - you need to get to finals to do that. The ambition they talk up every year of building a team around a core of Hull born players hasn't happened unless Kris Welham and Jason Netherton count as a "core".
I fully agree we've not got the coach a club of our size deserves, but to say Rovers are infinitely more ambitious than FC is palpable nonsense.

I've highlighted the bits that I believe would be irrelevant to an Aussie coming over to play his retirement years at an English club. I'm not trying to be facetious but I don't see how any of what you've said there contradicts the points I made earlier?

but spent more freely when smith came in(monaghan x 2,atkins,myler,hodgson etc)
Eh? You bang on about players choosing Rover because they want to win trophies then accuse me of supporting Agar?!?!?
I need proof of both....
Again, as an outsider, I'm slightly baffled by Garry's claim to Hull KR being a more ambitious club....As far as I see, you have the better ground, better recent history, better squad (on paper). Its just your coach that leaves you lacking.
Just out of curiosity, what is Agar's standing with fans at Hull.....The problem we had with Cullen was that many actually liked the guy and it was because of this popularity that he got a lot longer in the job than he should have....Does Agar enjoy similar support?
