I think people are getting a bit carried away here. I doubt we'll have much cap as we were scratting around to fit michaels in and we have no overseas spots so talk of carney, kelly, mcgulvray and brough are pie in the sky. Probably a couple of championship players or fringe SL players

Correct. But what's an off season on here without people fabricating ludicrous player links to then slate the club relentlessly for not getting them even though as you say we've nowt to play with. You know the drill by now surely?

Passports don't matter anymore. It's either Federation (RLEF) trained or Non-Federation trained. To a maximum of 7 players.

Definition of Fed trained from the RFL rules:
"‘Federation Trained Player’: a player who, for any 3 full Seasons before the end of the Season in which he ceases to be eligible by age to play at Under 21 level has been on the Club’s register or the register of another Club which plays in competitions under the jurisdiction of a member of the RLEF. For the avoidance of doubt if a player moves from one Club’s register to another Club’s register and there is a period of no more than 28 days in the Season (as defined) and any amount of the period between the 1 December and the day of the first League Match, Representative Match or Cup Tie (whichever is sooner) between being removed from one register and being registered with another Club, consecutively shall not be broken for the purposes of this clause. In addition a Club may apply for a Player who has been granted New Talent Pool status"

Widdop is a bit of an anomaly as he's English, but I'm not sure whether he was on the books of a club over here before moving to Aus at 16.

You might be right but Pearson said we are looking in the NRL for a stand off/outside back. Not enough left on the cap and no quota place - the whole thing is a bit of a mystery. He said signings will be made within 2/3 weeks so we'll have to wait and see. Also Radford said a while back they'd be no more signings.

The only thing we could deduce form AP stating that we are looking in the NRL is they are either English and coming back to the UK (Widdop??) or we will be releasing one quota player to go home from our current squad with the resiging of Michaels.

Interesting times indeed.

I'm not sure Widdop is Fed trained though due to him being in Aus since 16 (unless he was on the books of a UK club for a minimum of three years before he left?).

The flip side would be if we signed an Australian at 16-18 - by the age of 21 they'd be classed as Fed Trained.

Think its all academic anyhow as wouldn't see how we could fit anyone of real quality salary wise into the squad and still stay under the cap. Unless we are to lose a player or two to release cap space etc.

I think we need to kick on and get to the next level because we are bang average and going nowhere. We need new coaches, a new owner, a linking fullback, wingers with genuine pace, a strike centre, a running six and an organising seven. We are light at prop, we need a creative hooker and we have to replace our entire back row because I've heard all the players have a deadly disease and can't play anymore because of health and safety. We also need to move to a new stadium and get more fans and have more money and win more games and only play matches when I can go with more free tickets.

Don't ask me where any of this is going to come from. Its not my job to run the club.
