Exactly. Of which, for me, Radford has got none. Maybe the man-management at a push. But socialising with his first team squad wouldn't help at all.

he has an excellent rugby brain if he gets the squad balance right we will progress. paul anderson an brian mac do ok theyve all learnt from good coaches at the bulls. but weve got to get the spine of the team right 1,6,7,9,13 if not we will never learn.

Because if the first-team squad look at him as a 'mate' and not their head coach then he will command zero respect in the dressing-room. He has to maintain the aloofness needed for his players to listen to him.

Because there needs to be some distance between the coach and the players and because he must be a figure of authority not "one of the lads" and because he cannot condemn behaviour which he himself was recently participating in.
