New Hull Live article seems to suggest a new DOR is already on board. Probably get announced tonight I'd imagine?
Says investment talks still ongoing and likely finalised later this season. 3 seriously interested parties.

Edit: Tomlinson says DOR to be announced next week. Starting to think we won't really hear much from Pearson tonight and will keep everything quiet and cryptic.

If a DOR is close to being appointed that process surely doesnt happen overnight so it seems possible the club had given up on Smith several weeks ago.
