Just a few random thoughts, since travelling back from the London game:
That was Danny’s 3rd or 4th HIA in two seasons today, do we just agree with Danny, that the next home game with Leeds will be his last for the club and we can give him a send off that he deserves? We have to think about his health, we also have to look to the future. England have just announced the same with Jimmy Anderson that the First Test this season will be his last. Maximum respect yes, but no room for sentiment when you need to build for the future and he is not going to be around next season anyway.
Jordan Lane said in the HDM 5-6 weeks ago that the players knew what they had to do in training. How is that going Jordan?
In his post match interview, Simon Grix said that it wasn’t down to coaching today. If not, what does the coaching play book say about last tackle plays when you have Jake and Jack able to kick, but somehow from the PTB we give it to a forward to run it in on the half line? Where in the play book does it say do not kick the ball dead from the kick off? Both incidents led to their two tries before half time. Also after their penultimate try, we were 10 pts behind with about 12 mins left. At the kick off there was a 30m x 30m area with no covering London player, but 3 Hull players. We decided to kick deep?? Would a coach not encourage his players when chasing the game, to try something different. A 3 v 0 player advantage with a short kick off is likely to return possession!! Steve Evans will be turning in his grave, he was the master of the short kick off.
A great player, but Gaz has been part of the coaching team for 3 years now. As always, today he was running on and off the pitch giving advice to players. Either the players are ignoring him, aren’t good enough to execute what he is saying to them or the advice is wrong?
