For my mind with not being successful in getting the deal for Rowley done I think the ideal Coach for us now would be one that is not currently involved in the UK game. Due to the state of our recruitment and retention and the clean slate needed I feel an Australian Coach would be the way to go particularly as they'd be more likely to come with modern coaching methods for the modern game and also have a greater knowledge of players in the systems there that would greatly improve the standard of quota players.
I honestly don't think there are any standouts in the UK game that would really give us what the club needs. If we have some serious investment then use it wisely and on the important pieces and for me that starts with a top Coach.
I know its not that simple as top Coaches are not just sat on a shelf but it needs sorting sooner rather than later. I had heard Gleason could be an assistant to the next Head Coach in 2025 but don't know if that is genuine or not.
I also think we are fishing in the wrong pond for a coach and that we should be looking overseas.
Apart from Asiata there is no logic in the signings Myler has made before a new coach is appointed, especially if they are on two year contracts.
Asiata was a statement signing and Myler should have used this selling the club to available coaches and players in Australia and NZ
Gaz Ellis is now back and who better to accompany Myler as he was one who was sold the dream before joing the club in front of several other top teams.
The overseas signings are the ones that will get us back to be a competitive team not the likes of Briscoe,Hardaker and Holmes so if we have money available and several quota spots then lets start to show some ambition and make this club great again
