FWIW who has given up on this season ??? Recent form shows the players as motivated as we have seen them for a long time.

They will bust a gut next Saturday - we have turned over Saints against the odds before & would have done again recently but for Josh's achilles or Connor's pass being picked up by Regan Grace.

Great prop, not sure he would get a visa because of his incident.

Be amazed if he didn't get an NRL contract.

Surprised the Roosters are letting him go, but with JWH going round again it'll be salary cap pressure.

I'm sure his father in law will help him get another NRL deal.

Just googled who he is, yep, you would guess he would go to the Dolphins, certainly will have the most cap space in the NRL.

I'd love to see JWH and Lodge in the front row at Hull, what pack would mess with those two? They'd show Josh Maguire how to be an enforcer, not a grub, but , sadly, they'd also be banned for a lot of games , wouldn't they? Well, we can dream. Apparently Dane Laurie, of West Tigers is also being linked with SL. He'd smash it over here with his pace, but he is a fulll-back and we don't need one . Could do a Rovers and sign a fullback to play winge,r a centre to play fullback and another centre, just because they can.

Exclusive: An NRL playmaker has been linked with a potential move to England to play in Super League next year.

rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands Sydney Roosters utility Connor Watson, who is off-contract at the Australian club at the end of this year, is considering a move to the UK.

The preference of Watson is to get another NRL deal and stay in Australia next year.

But it is believed if he cannot secure a new NRL contract for 2024 then he will make the switch to the UK.

Watson can cover a number of positions including hooker, halfback, five-eighth and lock.

The 27-year-old is a Roosters junior who broke into the NRL with the Chooks in 2016.

He made 39 NRL appearances for the Roosters before joining Newcastle in 2018.

Watson spent four seasons with the Knights, racking up 66 games, before returning to the eastern suburbs outfit in 2021 on a two-year contract.

The utility has scored 26 tries in 125 career appearances.

He played 21 games for the Chooks in 2022 but has yet to crack first-grade this season.

It’s interesting to watch the turning of the RL bete noire cycle.

Round pegs in round holes fanaticism seems to be taking hold at the moment. It’s not like Hiku and Evalds haven’t played chunks of their career at FB and on the wing respectively, or there aren’t obvious advantages to having players who can play in multiple positions. Or that players haven’t been successfully transitioning between positions for decades.

The ‘one of our own’ mindset seems to be skewing perceptions more and more, too.

Hiku has played fullback 26 times in 200 NRL games, With the greatest spin in the World, that would suggest he's not a fullback. Or at least the highest rated coaches in the World don't think he's a fullback. That's not to say he won't do a decent job in our much inferior competion, but the "round holes fanaticism" seems at least partially justified. Evalds similarly has played wing 28 times in 197 games, which again - suggests he's an out and out fullback.
