Mick crane was such a tallented player when he wanted to be
when he bothered to turn up to training and not betting and drinking.

Mick was no way a big drinker, actually the majority of the players were not big drinkers as such and just had a pint after the match, it is well documented those that did like the drink and I think most just assume the players of the 80s were piiss heads when they simply were not. They played on Boxing day and I know most families of players had there xmas festivities on Boxing day night as most of the players would not drink on xmas day before the match.

The idiot probably doesn't know that Crane played for Rovers too.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas

This is a really good idea by your web site team, I very much enjoyed reading about the players.

I'm a Rovers fan, so I didn't vote, but I would have voted for Crane.

As far as loose forwards go Norton and Whitely and I don't think anyone will argue with that. This vote is for the 3rd choice and I'm surprised that Casey even got a nomination - surely there have been better than him other than the 3 other nominees who were all clearly superior and contributed more as a Hull player. Casey played 5 years (not particularly long) in an undistinguished side and was hardly considered the star man. His fame as a player, that of a cheap shot merchant known for late hits on the opponents half backs, was earned with another team.

However if the dobbins were to do a hall of fame then Casey would be a walk in, chiefly for the harm he did to Hull with his disastrous coaching spell.

FWIW my choice would be Crane, a very good player and always entertaining - though I wouldn't have wanted to be his coach.

I started watching Hull FC about 30 years ago, so I never saw Casey play for Hull. Did you?

Because without doing so, how can you say he was "hardly considered the star man" or the others were "clearly superior and contributed more as a Hull player"?

He played for 5 years, in an era when Hull FC were nowhere near anything like any honours (I think we made it to the JP final in 1975).

Jason Smith is a in the list, he was only here for 4 years of which he played in only a fraction of the games. Peter Sterling is within the Hall of Fame for playing for less than 1 and a half seasons. I haven't looked but I would be astonished if Garry Schofield was not in contention.

Casey's spell as coach should have no bearing on him as a player in Black and White.

I agree that Mick Crane should get the nomination (but then I would!!), but the votes have been hijacked and Casey is now in the lead.

He is a pathetic excuse for a grown man, clearly bitter, obsessed and twisted.....what is even more disturbing he insinuated on the VR thread he is a Prison Officer, god forbid!..clearly a great role model for offenders on how to be a well balanced individual :LIAR:
