Slightly different as we were already playing a few young players and these were signed for the rest of the season, not a short term long.

That was also under Hodgson, who I was critical of when handling young players.

A bit of an ironic post Dave, critising Rovers for bringing loan players in when you did the very same thing last season, Rovers actually chose to use the youth players and not bring in loan players at all, to be fair FC's academy does look in a better place than ours, ill give you that.

I still think there should be a transfer window to stop all this wheeling and dealing. You build a squad for the challenges of SL, you shouldn’t be able to loan players unless it’s a real emergency.

I’m critical of what rovers are doing, especially if hall is only out for two weeks and when they let Will Tate go 2 months ago.

However, these are the rules and rovers are playing the hand they’re dealt despite it been a very short sighted decision IMO

We should do the same if Tag is out for a sustained period by bringing in Ashworth or any other forward who is signed on for next season

Such a stupid argument saying we brought loan players in and didn’t use youth. We also had season ending injuries not 2 week injuries Shows you’re either just a troll or don’t have a clue what went on.

Last year we played Matty Laidlaw, Charlie Severs, Jacob Hookem, Will Gardner, Denive Balmforth, Davy Litten

They were also in the team alongside young fringe players such as Ben Mac, Connor Wynne.

How many young players have rovers played this season who had less than 5 SL appearance. Wynne has 34 and Ben mc has 31

Feel a tad sick defending them but don't really see the issue with Rovers bringing players in on loan. Vital stage of their season and bringing in experienced players like Yaha will do them more good on a whole then playing a young kid who's not ready for first grade. Its a compliment to the position our academy, which currently has a greater pool of youth closer to the level required. However is smart by them not rushing kids in too soon.

Already addressed that a few posts earlier.

This isn't a Hull Rovers thing, it's about the game, I'd have rather Litten than sign Walker, Barron over Simm etc.

It's about teams and sort term thinking. The only teams to win SL and challenge consistently are ones with good youth setups and give players the chance.

Short term thinking, also in this case we aren't just talking about academy kids, they have Corey Hall and PLT, neither played and the weekend and both could step into replace Hall.

You could argue the case against Hull for continuing to play Mcintosh, Lane and Dywer, instead of Barron, Staverley and Balmforth.

Long-term success is more typically built on continuing short-term success than patience and SL should not be backfilling as a development competition.

I accept a correlation between success and strong academy set-ups and even that it is a contributing factor. But those clubs have different circumstances. Hull and Rovers need to adapt as well as possible to their own circumstances rather than buying into the sanctimonious philosophies of our captors. Imo. :)

We have tried the other way, throwing big money at players, Sneyd, Westerman, Ellis etc, this worked short term and to be fair, I'd sure Rovers would take a challenge cup with in the next three or so years, but we have done that and as much I would love to to win the cup again, i want us to build the club ready for challenge long term and there is only one way to do that IMO.
