Game last night showed 3 things.
1: How much a new coach with the same set of players can improve things.
2: Not convinced by McNamara as a coach, got the biggest budget and easiest place to recruit to, but apart from the challenge cup, think he has under achieved.
3: Sutcliffe is a good signing, had a great season, mainly because he has played in one position and not moved about, big improvement on what we have
At least Hodgson has left us in a good place recruitment wise, as the 4 we have signed are big improvements on what we have.
Sutcliffe looked good , didn't he? Defensively assured and made some good breaks, runs a nice line and looks to have that timing that good centres seem to possess , so if Carlos gets fit, we have two very good centres next year.
I have never rated McNamara as highly as some, the points you made re budget and location are very true, he seems to have only one game plan (Power and size, ala Radford) as this was what he worked under while a Bradford player, but even the pundits were talking that down, citing a lack of speed among the Catalan group.
Leeds looked like a team last night, all playing with purpose and for each other. If that is what Rohan Smith can do in such a short time, lets hope his uncle can instil that into our squad, as we all know on paper we have some talent in that group.
