I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

This may be a bit radical and a bit controversial….why don’t we wait and see what Cartwright can do with him in the off-season and see how he goes before we slag him off….as for the weight thing, think it’s just crass remarks see that social media has problems with trolls and bullies praying on peoples body sizes, but just seems as though it’s fair game on here to say what you want

Stop being positive please, we are only allowed to slate every signing and everything the club does plus we have to keep hammering the point about slowest backline, slowest team blah blah blah, no more positivity or you will be removed from the forum, the coaches on here all know best.

I think the signings so far are an improvement on what we currently have but then again that's not difficult in all honesty. I think Abdul is a decent signing in terms of his ability as he's a very good player but as I said in an earlier post I would be underwhelmed if as club the intention is to go with Trueman & Abdul as first choice halves simply based on the injury records of both players over the past few seasons. The odds of both hitting 50% of games together aren't great which is why there is probably some concern amongst the fans and quite rightly, as we have been here so many times before it's untrue.

I don't think that is lost on Myler either and I'm pretty sure very few Coaches would come to a club in our state unless he'd had some assurances in regards squad rebuild.

It's still early days and no doubt lots of decisions yet to be made.

Looks to me Chris that our recruitment in the backs apart from probably bringing in another centre is done so where is the lack of pace to be addressed.
its the backs and halves we need the pace and the power and size in the forwards.
Everyone keeps saying lets wait for the final recruitment to be done but thats clutching at straws in hope because Asiata apart whats coming in at the moment is totally underwhelming and second rate

I'm pretty sure you are wrong, we are looking for another winger (possible) 2, a centre and possible a fullback.

Also the FB can play 6 too, so gives us options.

Re: Shopping list for 2025 : Wed May 29, 2024 8:21 am
Abdul has played 10 out of 12 games this season. He’s missed 1 against Rovers due to loan rules and 1 through a niggle. We’ll see how he goes for the rest of the season. Everyone would’ve loved us signing Tom Johnstone but he has a worth injury history before he went to Catalans.

Abdul has come out and said that he didn’t really have a preseason this season as he was on the out with HKR and got to Catalan late. Catalan have then also put him on a specific, planned Load/Bulk to allow him to stop recurring injuries, improvement strength through movements.

Should this work, we can cut him down in preseason and benefit from the work Catalan have done reducing his injury susceptibility.

Theres positives and negatives for every signing yet a lot of our fans look exclusively at the negatives.

If Truey and Abdul pick up niggles it will allow Charles to get some exposure which is essential.

We still have 2-3 quota spots to play with depending if Satae is signed. Hookers & backrow/centre.

Feel like Corey Paix will follow Cartwright and would be a very good signing for us

Good positive post,

Think we will have 3/4 quota spots, fully expect Pele or Sao to go if we are signing Satae.

Satae

Gives us 4 quota spots to play with, should we be able to sign Whitehead or Bateman, gives us some real flexibility how we use those spots, one has to be a Centre and a hooker. Maybe that's why we are looking at sailor who can alos play 6.

A very good point above regarding lack of pre season for Abdull, can’t underestimate the impact not having a proper pre season can have on a player. He’s had his issues off the pitch which would be enough to spin any persons head all over.

We’re signing a British half who starts for one of the top 4 teams in the league on a weekly basis, a player that can kick a team to death and would be a good balance with our other half back. anywhere else it would be seen as a master stoke but for some at hull it’s seen as a disaster. And while I do understand some reservations over his fitness it’s fair to say we have a coach who will do everything they can to get him in the best shape possible.

I agree with bonaire that we look like there's going to be a lack of pace in the three quarters that's why we desperately need a FB with pace.

I'd like another hooker, centre and back row possibly a 1/6(Sailor)

Completely different game now. A LF years ago was a ball player now he's more of a third middle.

Let's face it , it is very unlikely that JA will attain the required fitness level but definitely worth a punt at 50k on the salary cap.

I suppose a risk is Abdul struggles to meet the level of fitness Cartwright wants, he gets dropped from the first team and gets shipped out to York on loan and we end up without a recognised 7 again, derailing our season.
