For some reason i thought he had being given permission to speak to other clubs when he turned rovers offer down
That's what I thought at first, but I can't find anything to confirm it. Just an article that they're resigned to losing him after he turned down a new deal.
Just read it he was given permission on request from his agent to speak to other clubs
Surely we can afford both we have lost Manu & McKinnon, probably O'Meley, Moa that has got to be some serious dosh and so far no top earners barring G.Ellis in and let us not forget Bomber stated offered Manu a contract which would make him one of the highest earners at the club (Turner probably like for like with Arundel).
He said 'value' - not 'cost'.
We may have plenty of money to spend but players of the quality we'd want and in the positions we need are increasingly thin on the ground.
I can't see humberside going with this story if it's not true , not just upsetting 1 but both local teams if it's untrue . I like McDonnell and probably the best about who's available . We stil need at least 1 half back though or else improvement from this season will be minimal if Horne is first choice .

That's my thoughts to. As much as Humberside make me cringe, they are usually spot on with their sport exclusives.A good signing if true, i just hope SM gets a really good hose down before he is allowed to wear a Hull shirt.

It was Humberside who broke the news wasn't it , Mike white infact.
Claimed in here that his deal would have made him one of the highest earners in the club

"We can't offer him anymore, we have pushed the boat out and if we are beaten to his signature I know it will take an astronomical offer, otherwise Willie will be losing money."

Confirmed in the Mail last month:
McDonnell has rejected the offer through his agent, with Rovers now agreeing to let him speak to other clubs and secure a move for 2013.
Chief executive Mike Smith admits he is disappointed.
"Shannon came over to Super League on a one-year deal with us looking to impress, and full credit to him for doing that," Smith told the Mail.
"We wanted to retain Shannon and we pushed the boat out in terms of making him a very good improved offer, for the next two years.
"It is obviously disappointing that he has turned that offer down, as we really pushed the boundaries to keep him.
"However, given his rejection, we have agreed at the request of his agent to allow him to speak to other clubs."
