But I don't think any of us expected a huge influencial signing in Thorman like Wire did in Monaghan though and there will be a big difference money wise too.

Wire have always had a good team on paper but haven't had a coach capable of bringing the best out of them to play as a team, us on the other hand are worse off as we don't have the players to work with so from my point of view its goign to take a couple of years to turn it around even if we did get a super coach in.

If not, I'd still argue that the [icombination[/i of Monaghan and Briers is superior (on paper) to Thorman and Horne, although with different strengths and weaknesses.



Anyway - I'm not even contesting that Smith has made a big difference to Wire, just pointing out that there are some factors in his favour.

Briers and Monaghan was halfbacks for Cullen and Lowes.........set the world on fire then didnt they.
