The words of fools mean nothing to one who resides in the truth.

Re: WESTERMAN SIGNING CONFIRMED : Fri Oct 29, 2010 12:21 pm
Few points, I think we're over egging him as a ball player. He is a specialized lock but I've not seen him send many good balls out to his wingers, or put many people through gaps. Also, any of the reported fees are a lot of money in RL terms, but it's better to take a risk rather than not bother. At his age he could develop into just the kind of player we need, and if he does, even 175k would be cheap.

As for discipline, I think it's fantastic if it's true we tried to offload Tansey as part of the deal. I think it's b0llocks that Fitz and O'Meley have put Tansey in his place, or he wouldn't have been in trouble 3 times already. Also, having Tansey here would give Westerman a poor example to follow. Westerman could turn himself around at Hull with the huge expectation we'll put on him, but to think our pro players are in anyway more influential than Cas's pro players is disrespectful and probably inaccurate.

Time will tell as to whether the signing is a success, but the gamble is definitely worth the risk. It also gives Agar an opportunity to put big forwards in the 13 and 6 positions! :)

i think your wrong with that statement as most of the cas players dont really give a toss..aslong as they get a game....whereas hull players seem to have a bit more influence...not much mind.

and to the previous posters regarding my opinion of westerman...i stand by my opinion...he`s poor...and if he does prove himself then fair do`s but cant see it myself

Know the full Cas squad real well then I'm assuming?

Got this bookmarked anyway, it surely must be a keeper!

I don't think he's the ball playing 13 people are talking about tbh. His game is more as a wide running second rower. I would probably leave Fitz at 13 and use Lauaki as a prop.

Tansey
Sharp
Berrigan
Yeaman
Briscoe

Horne
Long

O'Meley
Houghton
Radford
Tickle
Westerman
Fitzgibbon

Manu
Moa
Lauaki
Washbrook (Spell with Houghton/ cover a lot of positions if needed)

If we don't sign anyone else (although I think we will) then that looks a decent line up to me.

I would disagree, we have been needing a confident 13 for ages, who knows how to play the postiton. Think he will play 13, with Fitz in the props. Must remember Fitz will play the same game he has been, the number on his shirt won't change his game. Would have Whiting over Washy on the bench too, better cover IMO.

 presumably the point in signing Westerman is to improve our attack. IMO he is wasted playing anywhere but 13
