A sensible, honest opinion as usual,I think that the last 30 secs of the first half, get 2pts in front of the sticks and your within 2 scores, surely somebody on or off the pitch, should have the brains to call it.Smith is as good a coach as there is,he improved us,but needs a mass clear out,to many old favourites and no savelio strange call.
It was a gimme two points and crazy to turn it down with one play the ball to go.
Enjoy celebrating, Des. Hopefully more of a game at CP later in the year, I think you may have the Clive Sullivan Trophy wrapped up already though.
I think on the surface you could say the days under Hetherington have been similar to those under Pearson but that about the only similarity. Pearson has invested in the club heavily as opposed to Hetherington who did enough to ensure fans still turned up in numbers but maximised her & other shareholders take. Where I feel Pearson went wrong has been listening to wrong people in terms of rugby related matters from the off. As I said previously he should have backed Gentle instead of Radford which is where I believe the Hull mafia really took hold. McRae was another at the start who sadly tarnished his name at the club in his second spell at the club. I also don’t think appointing Clarke as CEO or involving him in recruitment has been a wise move. I think Adam has needed someone within that DOR role for far too long. That is what I believe Smith told long term at the club is
What is disappointing and frustrating to the fans must be even more so to Adam who has given the players just about every tool required to deliver success other than the right Coach, which I think he got right in the first place but he just didn’t back him.
Obviously with abridged accounts it's difficult, but Hull have lost about £2.5m since 2011 (think this was when AP took over). We can argue that there have been many poor decisions and also some good ones over this time period, but we are where we are. If we are stuck with a squad of the current calibre because that's all we can afford I'd rather drop down a division tbh. We can't compete at SL currently.
From what I've seen, he is certainly part of the problem this season, although the players are the biggest issue, but he keeps picking certain ones.
I'd love someone to give me a reason Evans gets picked and Savelio was dropped for example. Playing one hooker today is another example. Carlos as captain. Playing a rusty and out of form Shaul.
Hands are tied alot, but making some strange decisions.
I think that I understand the why? We are to have a big clear out, but TS wants to give the players we have every possible chance to prove themselves. A Derby is a very good stage to try and get the best out of them. It's going to be very difficult to get rid of 20 players and replace them all. It certainly is a transition year and you have to be sure that a new player available, is going to be an improvement.

A part of that 2.5m will be Covid, all those behind closed doors games and a drop in merchandise sales as people generally buy stuff to wear at games.
As far as I'm aware we are spending full cap (we keep being told there's no spare cap to wheel and deal) and the backroom staff is bigger than it has been for years. So we are spending the money just spending it badly.

True but how the debt arose doesn't change its existence or that it needs servicing. I thought we were £500k under the cap but could well be wrong.
Why do fans think tinkering Tony should not shoulder any responsibility for this teams failings? If he had come into the club and started with the first game i would understand he needed some time but he has had more than 3 months of pre season training with this squad to put a stamp on fitness,a structure for both attack and defence non of which we have seen during his time here. His team selection today was borne out of desperation An unfit Shaul was preferred to Litten. He must have known this was a gamble by naming Mitch on the bench which i said yesterday when Ellam named the team would be to cover Shaul going off,Mitch to the wing and McIntosh to full back. Mitch in any case should have started on the wing and would have bolsted the right edge defence which all season has leaked tries. McIntosh was brought back on the wing when his confidence is shattered and i think he will be moved on Then we have the debacle of Savelio dropped for performance related/ precautionary factors WTF is that all about. Its one or the other Tony Then to play Evans instead of Brown thats tinkering Tonys final straw for me Had high hopes for Smith here at Hull FC but he wont last the season. Even if we have so many players off contract as a seasoned experienced coach he still should be able to get commitment and passion out of them because thats his job and he has failed big time. Tuimavave as captain another error, and we are seeing now why leeds released Dwyer whos nickname has always been the headless chicken and Sutcliife who is bang average. The main thing now is to get these players on the training pitch and improve their overall fitness and speed then move onto defence as a unit so we keep in matches and dont keep getting blown away.
Which coach? Bonaire, Dave K or T Smith??....hmm let me think
I think hes tried dropping a few and it hasnt worked.
Big meeting needed with Shenton to identify which youngsters can come in and perform to a higher standard than whats on show.
Surely some of Balmforth, Staveley, Gardiner, Laidlaw, Wakakoke, Jebforth can do a better job than some of the current players.
For me Rovers line speed in defense was another level to ours. I thought our forwards actually worked well at the start , but the gains were undone by bad organisation the last. Has to hit Clifford everytime thought dywer had a mare in that respect. As Smith has said we just dont have the players or unity to cope under adversity.
Crying out for some leaders as theres none willing to galvanise the current lot. Also lacking major game smarts amongst the players, we need to be identifying some players with good rugby IQ.
Id like to see Brown in for Evans. Balmforth on the bench Staveley given a chance at loose forward.
Maybe give Balmforth a run at six.Big lad with a bit of pace.Could use his strength to run at defences which we desperately need from half back. Needs to up his fitness but surely cant be as ineffective as McNamara
Hmm interesting, know that our 2020 squad was billed as our most expensive ever. Then Reynolds was allegedly our highest paid player ever from 2021.
But since then we've lost several big salary players like Fonua, Gale, Reynolds, Mau'u and Connor but have made several signings such as Sutcliffe, Trueman, Hoy, Clifford etc so it's hard to gauge how much the budget has dropped.

Good post but you might think its a good idea to drop down a division and I would agree in principle with this crew making up the playing roster but in practise with our current costs of using the stadium and the facilities at the Uni, and our lease up for renewal (and in fact under consideration if we go down any way within the terms of our lease) plus a big reduction in Sky money and a massive debt to pay to the government (who aint interested in what competition we are playing in we still have to pay up) plus the fact that our owner hasn't got a bottomless pit of money, its pretty commonly known within the club that we would struggle to survive as a club at all where we relegated.
