Fine balance, isn't it. You would like the younger talent (Clifford, Potentially Schneider) but is it worth risk of losing them every year and being in a constant cycle of half back partnerships? I think as Hull fans we have already suffered enough of these. As mentioned above Adam Clune seems the ideal pick of the names listed. Either way I have confidence TS will bring the right man in.
Flanagan (there is a player there, less spotlight, less pressure might see him thrive - similar to Brodie Croft) Clune (bit older than the others, though wonder he took so long to debut in the NRL - less likely to get a release to go home) Hawkins - liked this rumour when he was originally linked - good age, played 1st grade this year as a 6, but he is more of a 7. Schneider - This is purely on Canberra fans reaction to him leaving - be interesting to see how he goes with Rovers Wakeham - Wests fans don't like him, really don't see a great facet of his game Cogger - Massively put off by his Huddersfield stint
Looking at some of his career stats so far.. 43 NRL appearances 3 Tries (Slight concern?) 21 Try Asissts (roughly 1 assist every other game) Averages around 3 missed tackles a game
Does appear to have a decent kicking game too
Hull FC's top halfback target emerges as club focused on getting NRL replacement

Having seen Flanagan at The Roosters and in and out of The Bulldogs, I don't think he'd be good for us, with the pressure that being Hulls number 6 or 7 brings, he looks like a rabbit in the headlights lately, after what I thought was a promising year at The Roosters, he has regressed, at Cantebury, although he looks like a confidence type of player and I think Trent Barratt killed that off in him, while he was their coach. Wakeham to me looks nothing like an NRL half, his kicking is poor and while he is fast, he does little to organise Wests. Cogger is another I wouldn't really want, but who knows, he may have improved a lot since his last time in SL . I like Hawkins, he can play 6 or 7, but I don't know if he'd fancy the UK, he was rumoured a while back, so maybe something in that. Honestly wouldn't know about Schneider, but if he plays well for Rovers, you'd think they'd be in the box seat for his signature. Clune has never struck me as anything but average, although that can mean he'd excel in SL, so whomever we get, Smith will know their game and what they'll bring. Think Truman needs a Clifford type, to showcase his own skills and he looks better each time I see him, so there is every reason to be optimistic.

For someone who is 28 but only made 43 NRL appearances then you have to ask why,but as said most the NRL halfbacks are a step up from what we produce and they seem to have that conveyor belt of young halfbacks making their way into the game. Schneider could be a real dark horse and at least our representatives can keep any eye on his every game rather than just on TV. In any case you usually get a good idea from his first 3/4 games. Clifford back after two seasons?
