Been gone a fair while then. When did we announce Smith? 4 weeks ago?

No one performs like a player looking for another pay day. Puts us in a strong position moving forward I think. Just got to hope we don’t get lulled in by players who suddenly start playing well and then half booty it when they get their new contract.

For the first time in a long while we have a young exciting spine who will all improve. Hopefully we can bring in a decent back rower, Longstaff and English but I imagine that would need someone like shaul to move on.

From there I’d be quite confident we have pretty decent depth and not too many players around our 19 man squad who have hit their peak.

From now on the priority has to be value for money. We need to worry about how in the last year of their contract their stock has risen so they need a payrise rather than they were a good player when we signed them 3 years ago.

Players performs for a new contract

Well Houghton didn't this year was awful and able to sign his new deal ! Even when signing a better 9 in Dwyer mental

We always say how good our "depth" is but couple of injurys proves we don't

Our youngsters simply aren't good enough to the level or saints Wigan leeds youngsters and that's the issue

Houghtons extension was due to an option in Houghtons favour in his previously agreed contract

I'm hoping the delay is that we announce more than one signing, the English rumour seems to have gone quiet, which is a shame as would have liked to sign him.

Sounds like Newcastle are happy to let Clifford go, its all on him should he fancy coming over.

I really hope the club can drag this over the line. A spine of Hoy, Trueman, Clifford and Dwyer off the bench is one which should really get people excited.

Doesn't sound like we will be getting English sadly, unless something changes pretty quickly.

Rather interesting that Hardaker's next move should be announced pretty soon. Not staying at Leeds, Wakey are the only side i could see him moving to, but can they accommodate/afford him? Couldn't see him moving to west of the Pennines. Unless he moves to a championship side, which is well below his level imo,it only really leaves us. Personally, wouldn't be happy. But him in centre and putting Sutcliffe into 2nd row isn't far from impossible.

I just hope it's done and not relying on Newcastle signing Brooks, what happens if that deal doesn't go through.

I still think we should have signed a replacement and announced it the same day as releasing Connor.
