The sooner people stop using the terms quota and kolpak and start using non-fed trained instead the sooner the confusion will cease.

The RFL rules now just refer to 'overseas' players and 'home trained' players.

TBH I'm only understand it as I read about it yesterday to see what the situation was for Hull.

I still dont fully understand how players like Gene etc can get exception to the quota?

As JTP said earlier, there was the potential for legal action from some players who'd been playing here since before there was a quota, had the legal right to work in the UK, and faced not having their contracts renewed due to lack of quota places. The 'Gene Exemption' was brought in to head off that threat.

Hi. Specualtion rather than rumours, but I didn't think this justified a thread of its own:

With Hull generally accepted to be having a clear out and having already announced the capture of some high profile (and therefore probably moderately expensive) players, I just wondered if you think any of your current big earners might have to make way?

I know the Crocker situation will have put you well under the cap this year. However, of the players that most of you want to see released, I'm guessing only Radford and maybe King will be on biggish money. Could one or two of your more desirable players be making way as part of the overhaul? I've seen Tickle and Raynor linked with other clubs.

there is a rumour that tickle is looking to move nearer to wigan,as his missus has failed to settle in hull and has moved back there, along with the kids.warrington have been mentioned and he is on a decent salary.as for the rest, thackray maybe on a half decent salary along with motu tony, but the likes of tommy lee, graeme horne, sam moa etc will be on a lesser scale.club ought to get rid of king and radford, past their best now.tickle would be a big loss, but wouldn't blame him if he wanted to be nearer his wife and kids
