OK, I should have said teams around us, Leeds, Leigh, Salford, Cas. Teams I think we could realistically catch next season. Broadbent signed 2 years ago, the twins one at the start, one mid season, so no recruitment for 2025, none of these teams apart from Burgess fir Hudds have signed an federation players of any note.
We had two choices, stick with what we had or bring in new players, think we have gone OK on the domestic front and looking at position and and timings of Myler etc, not sure how we could have done much better. Maybe someone like Corey Hall over Hardraker, but he he isn't exactly a world beater and we have lots of young players with potential.
But the market is poor thos year, particularly if you start late.
What else could the club have done, we tired for Sneyd, O Connor etc, but they wouldn't be released or choose to stay. Most players will choose other clubs over us sadly until we improve on the pitch.
I could have accepted the logic of the Leigh signings had the club insisted on 1 year deals with an option of a further year in the clubs favour.Whether that would have been accepted we will never know but two years is too long and restricts what the club can now do in the 2026 market when that season should have been when we started to breakthrough into the top six once again. We would also be in a better position to see who from the younger players will make the grade as regular S/L players.and who will fall by the wayside
