Re: Good Friday Derby : Sat Apr 16, 2022 6:25 pm
Well I'm still disappointed by that performance. We have just seen our team play the two most important games of the season thus far, perhaps a season defining Cup quarter final and a local Derby which to most of us is more important than anything. We had won the last 4 Derby's and on those occasions we have at least got ourselves up for that game as we have in recent seasons for cup games but this season, even that seems to have waned. On both occasions both games were winnable and yet on both ocassions we were obviously not up for it. Our attitude, wanting and focus was way off and the leadership from our senior players none existent. . Since 2017 we have seen such performances on a regular basis in the not so important games and at the end of pointless seasons.Too often our application has seen players with obvious class just not at the races and the resolve of the whole team way off the mark.

Players and coaches have come and gone yet that malaise continues unabated and as I have said on so many occasions, to me it appears that the players at our club are just too comfortable and no one seems capable of shaking them out of it. One fan said leaving the Derby '.....I'm fuming they only really do any productive work for 80 minutes a week you'd think they could at least appear to want it and give their all for that time, we were clueless again today' and although it was perhaps a bit of a simplistic conclusion you could see his point. Quite frankly I'm just fed up of it, as fans we deserve better. We don't have to win every time but we do need the players to look as if they at least want to. Its certainly not the way to engender support for a club that is obviously facing tough times ahead.

Why is the derby more important than anything?

It's two points won or lost same as any other game. Only difference is local mickey taking.

Supporting any team is based solely on emotion. I’m surprised you cannot accept the difference between a derby match and matches with other teams. Have a word with Saints and Wigan fans or Wakey and Cas. Not to mention the inhabitants of Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow.

You have posted some odd things in the past but the above is a complete denial of a situation that is well known to millions of people.

For once I agree with a rovers fan

But saying that most clubs do

Roby, Clark, mcshane, lussick, Powell, parcell, litten, mcirloum, dwyerl, Leeming are all better than Houghton

And we wonder why we never kick on to the next level

100% no

We do need an experienced coach but not him

Just about scraping through with a top class Catalan team

The cup win saved his job as I remember they was terrible in the league at the time

Exactly id rather win trophys than 2 points

Apart from our 2 Cup wins most seasons both teams have been average

Beating each other at times is like 2 bald men fighting and then winning a comb!

I am at a complete loss to understand the relevance of the above remark. How good Houghton was in his prime or what he won some years ago has absolutely nothing to do with how good he is today. Today we have two hookers that are performing to a higher standard than he is in my opinion.

A very small percentage of FC fans when they have nothing of relevance to say trot out the mantra about cup wins or other past achievements. Yes FC in the past have had more success but today we who support KR have more reason to feel optimistic about the near future than fans of FC do. That again is my opinion. It does however seem to be shared by the majority of independent commentators and fans whose opinions I am aware of,

If throwing out irrelevant comments about past glories, when the discussion is about present performances makes you feel better then good luck to you.
