the blame probably lies at Gentle / Bombers door. Yes AP signed the cheques but he was relying on his DOR and Coach to advise him as he was new to the sport, becoming clear why PG was shown the door when many thought he should have been given a further year.
It is pretty clear that Pearson is less than gruntled with the McCrae-Gentle-Howes axis and the players they recruited for Hull.
The camp seems to have been divided, to an extent that surprises me tbh. I never took Smailes' wonderful colour pieces very seriously, but your team looked pretty together when you beat Warrington in Huddersfield. I wonder why it unravelled so suddenly after that?
Maybe the Andy Hay sacking was an early symptom?
Perhaps 'clear the decks' is/was a more realistic approach than trying to get everybody to pull together - though in an ideal World you'd want the latter. It'd have likely required an appointment to head coach from outside the club, though.
Carvell for McDonnell looks a sensible rebalancing of the squad, grabbing an opportunity.
Mason (unless the prognoses on Watts
and Green are worse than rumored) and Gale look a bit more 'any port...' to me.

It would have been better done earlier but clearly the latest Bradford changes of ownership have presented opportunities which we are looking to take. I suspect the changes of coach and football manager in October didn't help the smooth running of recruitment at the back end of last year. It's good to be in a position where we have the wherewithal (and necessary financial means) to change things around - the new coach has seemingly identified areas and it might be that he's able to change things earlier than he might otherwise have expected.
The Sky windfall looks to have come at a good time for a number of clubs, for a variety of reasons. A timely omniboost, as it were!
