Il be scratching my head if we arnt in for Walters, good age, british and brings good size at 6ft6.

Makes too much sense.

Walters
Davies

These are the smart signings we need to be making. Mixed in with some proper quality from overseas

Davis would be a great addition , Size and speed and looks like his injuries are now behind him .

Not a huge amount available off-contract but looking at this I think there are few ‘squad’ players who would improve us. I’d look at considering

Arthur Morgue - not sure how he fits in and has a few issues in his game but could be that magic we utilise off bench.

Sam walters - obvious one, testing his value and is massive. Some promise there.

Liam Tindall - pace to burn, not sure about how rounded his game is but worth considering

Shane wright - don’t know loads about him but pretty sure he’s gone well this for salford and is a great age.

Lewis Murphy - going NRL I believe but bags of talent

Ellis Longstaff - what he lacks in size he makes up in effort. Concerned our pack is small but hopefully he’ll develop the physicality.

Owen trout - good age, good size, good engine.

Jack ashworth - big bloke, bit stagnant but a move might revitalize him

Dan norman - around saints squad but never seems to break in. Worth a punt

Callum Mclleland - never got going at cas because of injury but was well thought off and surely offers more than Joey & Ben Mc as back up half

George lawler - big rovers fan lol. But versatile and big body

I'd definitely be looking at Lawler, Trout, Ashworth and Walters along with Daniel Smith and Louis Johnson. Obviously Sione Matautia is the standout on that list but he's going back home I believe.

It just shows the importance of quality youth coming through with the lack of quality available in SL, signing from the championship can be hit and miss and with the money available in the NRL getting a genuine first team player is near impossible. We need to be shrewd with our signings hopefully we can pick up a gem or two from the championship and find some quality NRL reserve graders that want some first team games.

Ideally we need to be building the squad around the likes of Litten, Brown, Balmforth, Staveley (if he ever gets his chance), Laidlaw and the rest of the promising players we have over the next few years like Saints and Wigan have.

Trout and Walters are the stand outs there and if we could get one of those I'd be happy, a few others I'd have such as Clarke and Currie, but they won't come here.

Possible Longstaff or Luis Johnstone for squad players, think we are going to have to hope we can get some contracted players, always possible such as Connor and Sutcliffe etc.

Pick up a couple form the championship and be really smart with overseas recruitment.

The lack of quality here looks to me that there will be a couple of players you would ideally release might get a one year deal.

I think we need 5 forwards for our starting 17 (Two props, two backrowers and a hooker)

Will will definitely have 2 overseas spots with Evans and Lovodua, maybe 3 depending on Satae.

This is not going to be an easy task and will no doubt take a couple of years of recruitment like it has for Rovers.

I'd like a winger, but not sure that is the priority when we will have about 4 wingers signed on (if Swift stays). plus the likes of Mitch and Scott

Satae showed yesterday why we need to keep him, he's devastating on his day.

I don’t think we should waste cap signing a winger. Swift & Litten will do us for a few seasons before swift retires and litten moves to full back.

For me Satae should stay, it’s about managing his stints to get the best out of him.

That was exactly my thoughts walking home from the game yesterday.

Regarding our forwards when we give them the ball more they are much better the more carries they do and we are better because of the platform they lay. Its the intensity we lack far too often and yesterday showed the difference when we start with intent in attack and defence and carry that through as much as possible. Sao has rightly copped a lot of flack this season but thought he was outstanding yesterday and really took it to Huddersfield and Hill. We moved up in defence with a bit of speed and aggression instead of the usual passive, lazy stand and wait method and never really let Huddersfield get a foothold in the game.

Still needs a massive overhaul in terms of playing staff as the attitude seems to be an issue and too many for too often are just not switched on and doing it from now on shouldn't be enough to save them as unfortunately I fear they will revert to type once again if they get an extension.

Whilst I am realistic that not all the OOC players will be shown the door I feel that reducing a good number of the same old faces will make a difference to the players that may well stay. It all depends on who is available and attainable in the market to improve us for example Griffin wouldn't be a terrible option to give a 1 year deal as think he's played fairly well since the move to SR.
