I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Re: Wake up call : Fri Feb 26, 2016 9:29 am
For me its was a game we should have won had we played with the same or near the same intensity etc as our opening 2 games.

We just didnt get going at all in the first 20 mins and that ultimately cost us. Typical of Hull FC that when we have an off night it tends to be generally across the board. Poor/sloppy tackling, missed tackles, not stopping off loads, poor option taking etc.

But even with a poor and disappointing performance we were still very much in the game and could still have won it had we had a little more composure Pritchard & Pryce the two that spring to mind. So for me as well as Cas played and exploited our mistakes etc, we were still in the game which is a massive positive. As poor as we were tonight we are still miles ahead of where we've been previous seasons. This result will probably actually do us more good than if we had won it as it now brings us all back down and keeps feet firmly on the ground.

Disappointed? Yes, downheartned definitely not. Just need to work on the defensive issues and put it to bed and move on to the Wigan game.

I reckon I'm one of Radfud's afore mentioned Keyboard warriors !

I never take a defeat well except one at the end of a long winning streak when it's clear a loss would help to break any complacency.

Last Season we beat Cas at home twice and last season we were awful.

The season before we drew at home and we were the worst in a long time.

The 2013 season we beat them 52-0 and we were absolute poop that season.

In 2012 we beat them home and away. You see the pattern ?

So roll on 2016 and the mighyt FC bristling with new Talent and Size. A loss at home to Cas for the first time since ...well ??

WHY ? Outcoached ? definitely !

Defence - conceded 45 points at home in 2 games and it's only Salford and a Cas side we always beat.
Last season 2015 we conceded 50 points in first 2 games at home.
The 2014 season, Radfud's first in charge we concede...you guessed it....50 points in first 2 home games.

A leopard never changes it's spots. Radfud has always been far too out of his depth for me.

We have a squad that's amazing this year and they will get us into the Top 8 for sure.

However we need a WORLD CLASS coach to make us a TOP 3 side and give us a match v Melbourne Storm in the WCC.

Also the stats say that wherever you are after 9 rounds is usually where you finish give or take just 1 place up or down. Check the tables and history as it's quite uncanny.

I've never been more convinced that the only missing ingredient is a coach as God bless Adam has totally sorted the rest.

We must beat Wigan. They are vunerable for sure.

Castleford can't possibly have improved. Its definitely down to Radford. ;)

On a serious note, let's not get too negative. A lot can change in a week, and its the reaction that is important, and how they respond to losing to a good side.

Tarquin....

I don't think you need to be firing all guns blazing there mate.

I also don't think Radford has read your specific posts on here and targeted you through sky sports...

Radford's first coaching job was with a relatively average Hull side, an he has been learning the trade for the last few seasons...

I think his coaching is improving year on year and he is attracting all the right players to your club.

You're certain you're missing a world class coach, I'm certain you're missing world class half-backs. Sneyd can be very good, however as a Cas fan my experience is that he goes missing all too often. Pryce is your real problem though - FAR past his best and for the money he will be on, you could recruit someone who'd offer so much more.

I think the errors made to cost you the game last night were by individuals out on the pitch - Pritchard pushing Milner in the face 1 metre from our line with the scores level being the perfect example - how do you "coach" that out of a player???

I aren't sure about your "WCC v Melbourne Storm" statement - think that's a bit pie in the sky considering both you and them aren't top 3 sides - yet anyway.

I also don't think your match next week is a "must win" although I'll be pleased if you do :D

Yesterday was an experience RL fans suffer far too often - you win a game in france you expect to struggle in, then lose at home in a game you thought you'd win.... I don't think the 52-0 result of 3 years ago has any bearing on that

Good luck for the next few months and see you all at the Jungle :)

What a disappointment. Same old issues.

1) The wrestle in the tackle is poor. Cas were far to quick when playing the ball.
2) We need an impact hooker.
3) The player who wears the number 4 shirt must jump out of the line regularly and be side stepped.

Been awhile since I posted on here. Will try to do so more often as the season goes on.

Disappointed with the result last night especially after the fine performances of the first two games.

I saw a comment on one of the Facebook groups which ran true with me. Someone said that we often come out second best in the close battles and need to improve our game management. As has already been mentioned by nottinghamtiger Gale and Roberts made the correct decisions for Cas last night. Sneyd and Pryce not so much. I feel that was the main difference last night.
We were in with a chance right until the end but sadly you can't win them all. How we fare against Wigan next week will say a lot about where we're at as a team.

Re: Wake up call : Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:29 pm
I think the comments about Michaels have been unjust. As a right winger you get targeted a lot down that side, and you rely on your inside defence making the correct calls and not jumping out of the line - they didn't do that, they shot out time and time again. He was also safe under the high ball. His 50 metre break in the first half which led to our 3rd try I believe was down to him keeping the ball in play. It wasn't a 40/20 and he could have let it go out, but he committed to it and made a great break.

His 1 mistake was the forward pass to Houghton, which you cannot justify with a response, very poor from an experience player. However, I am of the mindset that you shouldn't play an overseas player when you have someone else that can do the job just as good - which I think Naughton and Lancaster can both do - so I would pick one of those 2 next week

Lots of enthusiasm, unfortunately a complete lack of skill. Sneyd missing in action, pryce not fit. Needs to lose some weight. Shaul potentially a top class full back. He will have to move to a more senior club to fulfill his potential.
He will thrive surrounded by players with more skills than pryce and sneyd.
