Maybe harder for people to afford passes and games next season with the current situation and short time working at most of the major caravan manufacturers, people have to tighten belt’s especially if on 3 day weeks or facing redundancys

I wasn't aware of that. I hope people who are in that industry job wise are going to be ok.

Re: Bums on seats : Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:14 am
I didn't renew my pass this year, after 42 years of buying one; and doing most away games quite recently.

Had planned to attend the odd game, but haven't and being frank do not miss it at all given the utter garbage served up for the previous five seasons. It is not about losing, it's the complete lack of pride in the shirt shown in that time; and the way it sucked all of the passion out of me, until I sat there for the last few games last season emotionless, distracted, and wondering why I had turned up.

Reasons for not renewing are multiple, but principally:
The total disconnect by the club, and arrogance they showed to me and others of the same ilk when we were kicked out of W12 in what was a transparent money-making move. The bitterness imparted by looking at the seats we used to sit in every match being completely empty while we were pushed into the North stand fuelled a huge resentment that has not faded.

Then to be told at renewal this season that for the derbies we would be moved out of our section to elsewhere in the stadium (at the clubs discretion), with no guarantee of being together, to enable them to sell our section to Rovers fans added a whole new tier of seething resentment, and for some of us was the final straw.

The two of our group that remained tell us how pre match and halftime have extremely loud music blaring away, making conversation impossible unless they go to the concourse.

Add into this the years of "jam tomorrow", the implied threats of "stick with us or the club might die", basically the constant lies and deceit.
The regular significant money I spent in the club shop also ended this season.

Given the fact that Ruby League has been suffering a lingering death for years, it is beyond comprehension how a club can treat any customer like this - although that's rhetorical, as they clearly took the fanbase for granted.

My personal decision was based on the fact I would not accept this level of abuse in any other part of my life, and was sick of being viewed as a cash cow.
.
I've seen Hull win the League, the Challenge Cup, the John Player, the Floodlit Trophy, the Yorkshire cup; and have also seen us drubbed, relegated, and almost disappear thanks to Lloyd.
I even did some sponsorship when possible through a former employer.

I remain a Hull FC supporter, like all of the generations of my Hessle Road family have been; I just don't go to games any more; and given the lingering bad taste described above, am not sure what could convince me to go back.

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony.

I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

I know a number of people who have in recent times drifted away from the sport (Fc and rovers). They find other things to do, to occupy their time and money in more enjoyable ways and after a while 'going to the rugby' becomes a thing of their past. Loyal supporters of many years, decades even, lost for good.

Club sport is unusual in that, unlike other aspects of 'entertainment', there is an assumption (from club owners, game administrators, tv companies) that the audience will continue to turn up, blindly and unquestioning, no matter how much dross is served up to them over a period of time. This isn't specific to our club, but to all clubs in all sports (football, rugby, cricket, etc.). There is an unwritten assumption that the paying customer will dutifully turn up at the next game no matter what the circumstances! Indeed, you're almost painted as less of a supporter if you don't turn up to watch another helping of rubbish!

This wouldn't happen anywhere else. If you like a particular band or singer, for example, and the standard of their work declined, you don't go on buying their latest album just because you did in the past earlier in their career, when they were still half-decent. If the product isn't up to scratch, why should the audience continue to fork out for it.

I fear there are a number of people, such as yourself, who have grown tired of the sub-standard product from Hull fc these past few years and who have come to resent being taken for granted for far too long. When long-standing supporters drift away from the game, they rarely return and I do wonder how much damage has been impacted on our supporter base, particularly in these last dreadful three seasons.

The apathy from FC supporters is clear to see and little wonder.
Nothing to show at the moment that next season will be any more interesting or exciting for the lost fans.to return in numbers.
The club also need to get back to playing on a Sunday ex Sky contracted games as Saturday doesnt work and also conflicts with football
The game has also kicked itself in the teeth by having all games televised and this needs to be rectified next season to try and gets more fans into the stadiums

I know what you mean…I saw us win a Wembley and after 5 defeats,1 draw…1 glorious night in Leeds and a even better day at Cardiff…the holy grail arrived and I was fortunate to be there as I had to make some personal choices…I chose family, marriage and my kids over FC as I was a bit of a selfish sod and got out of the habit…yes I went in 17 V Wigan…do I regret my choice ..no…will go back, highly doubtful as I like what I’m doing now but will remain a supporter/fan til my last breath.

Fook me, all these bleeding hearts. If you don't want to go fair enough but don't come on here with some bleeding heart story. You're no longer a supporter, merely a fan.

If we put a decent team on the park whoever start winning games regularly people will come back

You seriously think I've been on here for 17 years pretending to be a Hull FC supporter? You're dimmer than I thought

I honestly don't know what the answer is with match days. The club have tried Saturday afternoons for a while now. I actually quite like them, although I get many don't. The problem with playing on a Sunday is that we'd regularly be giving a two day advantage to opposition by then playing away on the following Friday.

The match day has no real affect on attendances, it's all about form.

I do agree about all games being televised being a bad idea.
