I don't disagree that thanks to AP we still have a tomorrow but there's only so long or so many times you can keep saying the same thing about 'tomorrow' before its just becomes like the boy who cried wolf. Apart from releasing Reynolds, Shaul and Bowden personally I've seen very little change to what is being served up on game day, the capitulations still continue, discipline is as bad as its ever been, poor distribution, slow ptb, slow/lazy line speed etc etc.
All things that regardless of injuries/suspensions etc should have been addressed by now and whilst not being perfect should have at least seen a fairly significant improvement in things so far.
The investment and growth in the youth side of the club is great and for the future I've no argument on that, but the issues with the regular failure of the first team to put in 80 minute performances still remain with seemingly very little improvement if at all.

Adam is passionate about the club and he desires success as much if not more than many lifelong supporters.
Unfortunately his biggest downfall is his inability to get the right coach (and team) to put the club were here wants us.

An interesting interview with Kane Evans, in today HDM..
He stated , that some are focused into turning things around, and some are mentally weak, and down.
Isn't this a Manager's remit to rectify this matter.? man management is key if we are to get out of this predicament.. .

To be honest that was a very open and honest assessment by Evans and shows the big issues with the group of players as they are not a team and have very little responsibility either on a personal/professional level or within the club with certain players. Don't think it takes Einstein to work out which players are which in Evans interview. There's is clearly an issue that certain players are just not buying in to what they are being asked to do or Hodgson himself whether its game day or training. Its disappointing that out of everyone within the club it taken Evans to say it as it is.
Feel its further proof that there is still a number of players that need cutting out the playing squad at the end of this season to stop the rot spreading deeper. If the youth is to stand any chance coming through then the rot needs be cut out otherwise it will simply continue to spread and affect players attitudes and mentalities and they need to be set and shown good examples not the opposite.

Blatantly obvious which ones Evans is hinting at. "the ones with their heads down" you can see them after each half hearted effort that leads to a try, hands on hips stood with heads down not giving a crap.

I'm trusting Hodgson finds new teams for these players as their under contract for next season too.

For me this season as a pass holder I cannot knock the efforts of the below who I can't say I've ever not seen them hiding or not trying.

Connor
Walker
Simms
Macintosh
Swift
Carlos
Mitch
Longstaff
Savelio
Mau
Sao (discipline an issue)
Satae
Evans
Brown
Fash
Lovodua
Hookem
McNamara
Cator (when fit)

Any not mentioned for me are a mixture of poor attitudes and the weak mentality that Evans mentioned, or simply not good enough anymore.

For all Houghtons fault, I don't think you can question his effort.

I don't effort is a big issue, ability and mental strength is a big issue.

I've mention a few times, but I don't think we are very fit, seem to have alot of 2nd half collapses.

Leeds away Wakey away. Cats Wigan Home looked fit enough. Think it's more in the head IMO.

In those games barring Wakey we had a really high completion rate though which is the thing that ties fitness and mental resilience together.

Do we have the mental strength to stick to a game plan and go set for set? or will we take shortcuts and go for the low % play which lowers our completion rate? Then when we are defending we take shortcuts by laying on for too long or straying offside and lack the mental strength to trust players to do their job meaning we have players trying to solve things themselves because we are defending too much because of our poor completion rate.

You've not read the bottom paragraph, I stated the ones left off were for a lack of effort at times or not good enough any more, Houghton certainly falls into the not good enough anymore

Re: Hodgson : Thu Jul 28, 2022 3:13 pm
I've watched lack of effort lead to trys

Shaul and Griffin worst culprits recently.

Then Taylor joined in see Cas at home

Also when you rewatch Olpherts slice through our defence, you see Houghton jogging back when more intensity would of had him on Olpherts back, same instance you see Jordan Lane do nothing.

I can't accept a lack off effort and intensity arnt a problem with some players. They simply switch off and then half heartedly react. It's not good enough. I'm watching it 30 yards in front of me from east stand....... The TV recordings confirm what I'm seeing when I watch the moments back.

Griffin away vs Saints absolutely gave up on a couple of trys. It's rife
