Think he regularly went to Australia in the off season for coaching stuff. May have done the scouting/interviewing while there and then the 'upper echelons' flew out to do the negotiations. Wouldn't surprise me if this is something similar.

No but I have done phone interviews. Different industry, I would say most imports don't meet their coach face to face before signing and that goes across all clubs, not just ours.

The NRL has really been great for him, he's now a genuinely world class player IMO.
