I'd be disappointed with Keyes tbh. Didn't rip up any trees at Rovers. Is he a standout half in the champ?
As a back up yes if our academy half backs are not ready but as a first choice to replace Clifford I'd start to worry about our overall recruitment. He's nearly 28 played the majority of his career in the championship because that's his level.
The options to replace Clifford seem to be diminishing by the day but we need a half back who can lead the team around and that certainly isn't Hoy and I'm not convinced Trueman is suited to the role either. Added to that is Trueman looks like he is going to be out for the start of the season and the amount Hoy spends of the sidelines with his hamstring problems is a worry as well.
Using the last quota place to sign a full back no matter how good he is makes no sense.
We also need a second rower but domestically is there any one at a level who will improve the team.
I trust Smith to improve things next season although position wise we can't be any worse but letting both Griffin and Savelio leave makes our second row worryingly weak. I thought that Ashworth was brought in as a prop but if he is earmarked to play SR we are short in the front row.
As I say I trust Smith but I'm starting to get concerned about our recruitment however it's not complete so I may be a bit hasty in my assessment so far.
