I'm sure he knows his stuff and that he's well thought of. My concern is that he's been on the coaching staff since 2005 and he's either never applied for or never been offered a head coach job. The current situation ties our hands somewhat but I feel we need fresh ideas. A new start, as it where.

Well he'll get the chance, and per the HDM webcast is the favoured permanent option. Let's hope he can drag us out of the bottom half as a starter.

What bothers me about Last is that he was the right hand of a coach that was sacked as a result of poor results and particularly home form.
To be then promoted albeit said to be an interim appointment just seems wrong when he was also a major part of the failure.
In his defence you may say Last had no imput into the coaching (which i doubt) then surely you have to question his ambition.
I agree fresh ideas are needed but also i would have liked to see someone in who can apply more discipline into the club and get rid of this pally thing calling the coach Radders or Lasty.
Call them Boss or coach but unfortunately there is no way Last would now be able to do that.

Agree with all of that, and I honestly believe had C-19 not come along we would have seen either a new coach or Purtill get the job, but we are living in very different times. On tje one hand we have lost revenue and income is likely to be down for a few seasons so AP may be cutting his cloth to suit, on the other we are trying to borrow money from the Government 9via t8he uber dynamic, responsive and professional RFL) which will need to be paid back, so finishing this season nearer the bottom than the top is not an option of we want to be successful.

Andy may well be a really nice lad, I have worked with and for some really nice lads, they were largely useless at the job in hand and everyone liked them, only a handful respected them. Do we think Premier League players call Jurgen "Kloppy"...I doubt it. As Mrs B has said, Andy has his chance, as COYU and yourself have said (and many others) Andy has never shown any ambition to leave the comfortable surroundings of FC.

Only time will tell.

Agree that a clean sweep would be ideal but in current circumstances that cant happen. I wonder how much input Last and Purtill had under Radford who is a very strong character and apparently had Purtill forced on him. Did he use his apparent abilities as an attacking coach? There was very little evidence of it other than 1st game at Leeds. We owe Radford an awful lot for Wembley wins but he was not able to change things when they went wrong. Did not always use the players at his disposal eg Litten never got a proper chance because he insisted on allowing Houghton to play full games when he was struggling, Also had his favourites eg Shaul and his scapegoats eg Abdull. At least Last/Purtill will be given a chance. Lets see what happens

Just hope he has more ideas attacking wise. That side of our game has been long overdue an overhaul. Will always be indebted to Radford for the Wembley wins, but change was needed. How many heavy defeats over the last two years?. Did well to keep his role last year looking back.
Think we’d have looked outside without covid happening. Think we all need Last to make a good job of it, especially so we don’t have the expense of looking elsewhere.

if you are the assistant coach but not going to instill your ideas into the teams tactics or game plan because the head coach will not listen ( if that was the case),then in reality you are no use.
I doubt however that Last had no input into the coaching which is why he should have gone at the same time as Radford.
Purtill is new,not from Hull and in my opinion would have been the better option to bring in some much needed discipline and respect at coaching level.
There is no doubt that Gaz Ellis will eventually join the coaching team so as an interim he could have been Player/assistant coach for a while.
Doubt there is anyone in the game who doesnt respect Gaz Ellis.
