I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Think most are missing the point, we have to do better with our quota spots, on last seasons form, Carlos will be out of thec17, that's a massive waste of a quota spot, I'd bring in a UK based centre to replace him and the have 2 spots for a 7 and backrower.

Lyne was the first name in my head, but if I had the choice of

Lyne, Volkman and Alick or Carlos, Volkman and a Luis Johnstone, I'd choose the former.

Just can't see where we are getting a quality backrower we desperately need without a quota spot.

I get your point Dave but Lyne would be a poor & unnecessary signing even if Carlos was moved on, which I can't see the club doing tbh.
Carlos' form this year coming back from his injury he is for me behind Sutcliffe & Scott so unless that changes at the start of next season we face seeing another quota spot sat in the stands which as you say is poor quota use.

We are in need of a replacement for Clifford to really benefit from the new pack that has real size and mobility about it. Whether the thinking is to go with Hoy & Trueman with the signing of Walker who knows I guess much depends on the availability of Trueman after his cruel injury and the reliability of Hoy's hamstrings.

For me the biggest area of concern is the back row as we have somehow managed to make our backrow options weaker than this season which takes some doing. Having kept one of Griffin or Savelio would certainly have helped but letting both go and the only addition so far to the back row being Okunbor is an issue. Lane has just not kicked on and has been poor for a couple of seasons now so unless the likes of Staveley and Severs are to be given the chance to step up next season then our back row options are some way off being an improvement.

Question is are we better signing for 2024 a backrower with genuine quality and using the last quota spot or using that spot for an out & out half to replace Clifford? As I don't see many quality non quota options available in either position.

Castlefords player of the season
We are poor at 13 and Westerman would have added a huge attacking threat at 13 and improved our attack and defence.
My interest is seeing a winning team and playing good R/L.
Not interested who he shagged at the back of the pub.
It lacks ambition if the club continue to play Cator at 13 or fill in with Lane or Fash

For a year possibly but Cas have given him a two year deal and he turns 34 next month. Exactly the sort of thing we should be avoiding.

Clubs just announced Tindall. Even the way they announce signings feels like they're not bothered these days...they've used the exact same video and music they did for ese ese, that shot of the Humber bridge in black and white then just a few clips of the player, compare that to Catalans announcements of Sims and nikorima and it's definitely an area the club needs to work on

At least we can move onto whinging about the announcement rather than the fact he hasn't been announced. Progress!

Can't believe we've not announced Smith or Ashworth. Disgusting!

Last i heard anything was last week saying we had enquired about Russell but had been knocked back although the guy who told me seems to think we could go back in for him.

Well that’s the one we know of (Tindall)?

Said in previous posts a one year deal would have been ideal for next season and that was well before Castleford gave him a two year deal so i guess the club were not interested.
Not only are we incredibly weak now in the second row but i think you have to agree we are missing a ball handling attacking 13 and will be left again with a filler like Cator at 13

I do agree but I'm glad the club didn't offer Westerman a two year deal.

Tindall will be a good signing.
Really pleased we’ve got him,
As for Westerman. TS and the club have consistently said they want to change the players work ethic.
So why posters persist in wanting westy on board. He’s a pub trainer and not the role model we want at the club
