Against Wire he was woeful. If you go on present not past performance he is not SL standard. Opicic is not the flashy centre who catches the eye. His defence is excellent and has helped stop the leaks down the right. He is still settling in but has started to score tries and provide assists. I suspect what you have seen of Opicic is his first match against Wigan on tv and edited highlights. Not really a good way to assess a player. A player who only missed a grand final in the NRL because of injury is no average SL player. You are very welcome to Carlos on present form and I emphasise the word present he wouldn’t get in our reserves should they actually get to play a match.
He was a massive help stopping Charnley score a hatrick down the right hand side. Particularly when he shot out of the line with seconds left on the clock leaving Leigh a overlap and a nice run to the corner for Charnely to score a match winner.
It's interesting to know I can't form an opinion of him based on on what I've seen so far, and yet you are able to confirm Carlos isn't a Super League standard player based off 1 game you've seem him play this season.
I'm not sure why you said "provide assists", as in plural. He only has 1 assist to his name. The same number as Carlos, by the the way, who played a lot less games.
Hes missed 15% of his tackles. That isn't excellent defence. Its okay defence. Which is what I internally described him as.
So we can on present form if you'd like, because Opicic's is pretty average.
For the record I did say I could be proved wrong and its only what I've seen so far. He could turn into the signing of the year. Likewise Carlos will improve as he gets back to full fitness.
