I guess in your world Last wouldn't be paid off, just sacked, saving even more money.

Yes i know but freeing the salaries of Radford and Last would have paid the salary or much of it of a top coach if we had someone in mind.
We all understand the complication of Covid 19 but we are still a top class side on paper and to be appointing Last in my opinion is not the right message to send out to our players and the S/L world.
Clean sweep with Purtill as the interim coach was the better option to take .
Its much easier for a new man at the club to instill his own ideas, discipline and respect than the local man Last who has been sitting in a cozy safe position as Radfords assistant for years.

Well Craig Fitzgibbon won't be coming any time soon

“I'm ready to be a head coach, I've done a lot of hard work to be ready, but I have an agreement with Nick and Robbo and I'll honour that,'' Fitzgibbon told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"It's a matter of integrity. Those two are two of my closest friends, I shook hands and looked them in the eye and said, 'I'll be here this year and next year', and I'll be honouring that."

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

They would both still (almost certainly) have cost a years salary whether they were working for the club or not.

How many coaches, in the current climate, would change jobs mid-season and travel across the world to join a club in severe financial difficulties?
Not even next years squad is guaranteed.

None is my guess.

Last is here for this season at least, demanding he goes became very tedious 3 months ago.

Hopefully you've registered for the members meeting tomorrow night and can put this opinion forward to our CEO.

Funny this but one thing that was mentioned was that Last was the one advocating a change in direction onfeild when games were slipping and Radford maintained his “gut feeling” game plan, basically he wouldn’t be swayed. I’m sticking to “give Last a chance” let’s see how he utilises Purtill and Ellis, the A team’s been scrapped anyway.

I'd also like to see Andy given a chance til the end of the season.
He did say in an interview he'd like to change things up, so I for 1 would like to see how he goes and what changes he would implement.
He could prove to be a good head coach but whichever way he deserves a chance.
Wane sees something in him, so maybe his input was stifled by the previous coach, only time will tell and ultimately the club currently saves the salary of a head coach during these difficult times.

I see Wigan Athletic have gone into administation. (They're no longer owned by Dave Whelan.)

One odd comment - "Stanley also confirmed that the administrators have control over Wigan's DW Stadium and training ground as well as the club itself."

questions need to be asked as the football club only got new owners a few weeks ago......something doesn't add up.....
