If we do have one more major signing left to do what do people think we should use it on ? I did think s/r before we let radders go . Wonder if it's the other half of the 2 signings a lot of people were saying we were signing . Gareth Ellis ? Can't see it myself .

We need a replacement for Fitz which isn't easy to do. We really need to have two forwards coming in.
We did need a quality replacement for Gleeson but never mind
He may not be the big name that everyone's been discussing, but that is half the problem, that's all it's been a un realistic discussion with wish list names like Lyon and Gasnier, not the club! Martin is a good centre who's played that position for all his career, his stats are not great mainly due to the poor lo end clubs he's found himself with over the last few years, but put him with some good ball players and I bet we see Sharpy bag Fair few tries next season. I reckon we will bring in a relatively big name 2nd rower from oz to finish our recruitment!

The club have hardly tried to douse the flames of expectation though have they?

Talk of internationally acclaimed centres and more forwards to bolster their options up front have been the top of most people’s list but McRae says they are looking at a number of options.

Do you think that the fact that he's played for London, Wakey and Crusaders rather than Wigan, Wire and Saints is just a pure accident?
He didn't "find himself" at those clubs. That is the level of his ability and it is certainly a show of our ambition for 2012.

Not necessarily. Whilst it's not a signing I would have made, it might just be the case that Gentle intends to play Whiting in the back row and he feels that going into the season with only Turner for the centre spot would leave us short of options. If there was no one else available to sign, that is. It's not a view I subscribe to particularly, but it doesn't mean that we're aiming for 8th again either.
I like Whiting, but as a squad member for his utility value, I think if we are going to be serious contenders then we need better than Whiting for the first choice 17, but no doubt he'd still get into the 17 as the inevitable injuries occur. However, the only positions him he should play are at loose man or in the second row, but not on the wing or in the centres, backs need to be fast, he isn't.

I see what you're saying and I wouldn't subscribe to it either but whichever way I look at it, it is a very very underwhelming signing indeed.
