Couldn't settle? He was here two years.

They went home to raise a family, I believe. Plus the massive pay rise may have helped of course.

Loads of players say that, but then they can't quite make it in the NRL, so come back like Sio and Paea.

Weird that Corey Thomspon is such a success there whilst Fonua is struggling, I still think he could get an NRL contract, but it should be as a winger, as his defence isn't good enough to be a centre in the NRL.

I also think some Hull fans on here and social media are looking at Fonua with slightly rose tinted glasses, was a great player, but like Faraimo had his weaknesses, have a look at the video on the Hull social media page when we last win at Cas, probably at fault for three Cas trys, or least Faraimo would have been if it was him.

Aaah. Thought he meant Salford release Jones to come to us early. Isn’t Dawson-Jones on a 2 year deal? Fonua’s deal is up at end of season, that’s why they’ve released him. Wouldn’t work for us.

He might be as equally as bad as Faraimo in defence but he offers way more in attack IMO. I'm not sure its wise signing him if Faraimo is signed up but if he isn't I'd choose Fonua every time.

Not sure it's way more, Fonua did the unbelievable stuff, but was also prone to more mistakes and Faramio has other areas that are better than Fonua IMO.

No doubt I'd rather have Fonua on the wing, but I don't think the gap is that large, don't forget Fonua was playing in a much more successful and confident side.

Fonua hasn't really struggled over there though has he? My impression was that he has done pretty well. They all loved him at first, the fans took to him instantly, then he got a season ending injury. Came back this year, was playing regularly and performing pretty well, then another injury.

I would say the fact that Fonua was playing was one of the reasons the side was more confident. I like Faraimo, but he isn't on the same level as Fonua. There's a highlights reel on Youtube of him and some of the stuff he did was freakish. He was outstanding for us, especially out of backfield and finding his front. Gained so many penalties.

I think that clubs put clauses in contracts to do with things like injury. If he doesn't play for 6 months, then the club could terminate his contract. This could be what they do?

Started well, but form has gone downhill, gets very criticised from the West fans on social media.

Think somebody posted something earlier in the year comparing Faraimo's stats to Fonua's and from what I recall they were very similar. I think Fonua just went about it in a more eye catching way, some of the offloads he did were up there with Willie Manu.
