In defence of Lee Radford : Thu Jul 02, 2015 1:32 pm
Please can i ask that before everyone flames me they read the entire post. Thanks.

I think that the time has come to stop blaming Lee Radford for all our woes and start looking deeper at the root cause.

We are in this situation because AP gave the now infamous "heels dug in" speech before the start of the season. If he hadn't made that basic error I've no doubt LR would have been gone by now and we would be looking at a different picture.

I agree with all the posts about LR's limitations as a tactician and man manager, but we have to acknowledge that he is a Hull lad and would have always dreamed about being the Hull FC head coach. In sure in his own mind he believes that he can turn it around so berating him for staying on doesn't really do a lot of good. I'm sure if one of us was in his position we'd see things differently.

I'm worried that now even the most ardent LR supporters are throwing in the towel he'll be subjected to a torrent of personal abuse that he really doesn't deserve. I've already noticed comments about his teeth creeping in and it saddens me that a simple game can bring about such vitrol.

If AP was a good man manager he'd take LR aside and tell him that he can save face and offer his resignation rather than suffer the ignominy of being sacked. Anything less and he's not only falling the club, but LR as well.

I applaud your objectiveness, but the quote I have put in bold is irrelevant. I want a coach who knows what he is doing. Where he is from bears no relevance to that.

Basic facts are, we have a poor coach and we are not anywhere near as good as we like to think we are.

Yesterday was always going to be a banana skin (Brian Smith instilling belief in his new team / short turn around / rested players / former players wanting to prove a point etc). But we never once threatened Wakefields line after the first 20 min.

Pearson's view does not alter or change the fact Radford can still do the decent thing and resign so again there is no defence.
All Pearson' s stand point Has allowed is Radford to continue down his own delusional path that he is a good coach and can turn the club around.
Clearly not Lee as our current continued and worsen woes prove.
No matter what our views are of him as a coach however I do not advocate or agree with personal insults.

Radford is a problem, but the bigger problem is Pearson.

i'm sure his point is along the lines of what the original poster said - that pearson dug his heels in with radford too early this season and now won't remove him to save face. if pearson won't act, radford goes nowhere

I think the view that because Pearson backed his coach earlier in the season means he couldn't sack him now or in the future if he wanted to and could afford to do so is nonsense, I mean he has promised / made many statements since his time in charge, especially around season ticket sales time which have proved false / wide of the mark so why should this prove any different ?

I'll add it on his behalf.

Pearson is incapable of admitting he is wrong about anything. Instead he will pin the blame on anyone and everyone else, if they aren't around to defend themselves then that even better. He is stubborn. He obviously knows very little about the game. He treats the fans like idiots. He acts like we all owe him a debt because of all the money he's spent (see Allam). He has other, some might say conflicting, interests outside of the club. And perhaps the most important when it comes to an owner. He either doesn't have the money required, or doesn't want to spent it.
